Very useful focal range from medium to extreme telephoto, especially when used on a crop frame format. Build quality is very good for a lens of that price range, very similar to the EX range.

Images get very soft towards the 400mm end, anything from 200-250 upwards has noticeable softening. Lens creep is a major factor with this lens also the zoom lock can only be used in the 120mm position and cannot be engaged at any other focal length.

It is heavy and best suited to being used with a monopod. It clearly does not have the instance focusing ability of the Canon L Lens and can hunt slightly at times which can result in missing some shots particularly wildlife which is the main purpose I...

This lens is a great item, easy to use and i will learn its modes in time .

When lens grip is turned through 90 degrees it is easy to 'knock' the switches and change the setting of the OS or auto focus.

Easy to use, focuses well. Works well with my Nikon D5000. Ideal if you find Nikon lenses a bit too expensive.

A bit awkward to use with a moving subject, then I suspect that would be the same for any long lens.
