Good image quality and ease of use.

Built quality could have been better.

Photos on cloudy days come out nice. Good focal range.

Not too different in quality than the cheap lens that came with the camera. Not really worth the cost upgrading to it.

To me it is a sturdy well made lens. Perhaps a shame there is no power zoom (as I had in earlier Minolta lens on a film camera) but that really is a very small point. Image quality is all that I expect of a Zeiss lens.

None really to be truthful. I intend to purchase a filter to fit soon, and I imagine that that might be the cause of vignetting

Centre resolution excellent

Edges not so great sometimes and worse than my Sigma 17-70 zoom

MANUAL FOCUS A LITTLE STIFF, HOWEVER EXCEPTABLE.

Great lens that is a must if you own a Sony Alpha camera, it brings out the very best in my a700 with a good feel compared to the standard kit lens. Build is good although could be better but with the Zeiss badge on the side you know what your getting.

Auto focus is quite loud but then all Sony lens are! and the price which is high but worth it for Zeiss.

Sharp through range, brilliant colours (zeiss coatings) quick and reasonably silent autofocus. Excellent range!

Build is decent not outstanding but decent, a little expensive but comparable to other systems and they aren't Zeiss Optics.

can't help but feel that the price is over inflated for the Sony name, vignetting at extreme wide but easily sorted with software

Expected a better overall finish from a name such as Zeiss, black mottled plastic??????. The clip in front lense cover sometimes jams in position making it difficult to remove. Focusing ring operation could be smoother.
