If you have an EF-S camera, you don't want this lens, you want to 55-250 IS lens which is a *much* better piece of glass. It's actually sharp at 250mm and the image stabilization makes hand held shots at max tele practical.

Good lens protector, however the material is very weak (when comparing with the hood from the 50mm f/1.4 and it easily unscrews of the lens almost like if it was too loose. It would probably better to by a hood from other brand as this is too expensive...

These are high quality non coated filters. I think multi coated filters are a better bet for digital cameras - or maybe no filter at all. It offers protection but the pundits say that an uncoated filter may degrade the image more than a multi coated...
