Olympus M.Zuiko ED 7-14mm f2.8 PRO

The Olympus M.Zuiko ED 7-14mm f2.8 PRO is a top-performing ultra-wide zoom lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras.

Sharp. Fixed f/2.8 apeture. Ultra-wide zoom design. Manual focus clutch. Weather sealed. Metal barrel.

Some distortion at widest angle. Dim corners at f/2.8. Lacks native filter support. Heavy. Pricey.

Conclusions The Olympus PRO lens line continues to impress. The M.Zuiko ED 7-14mm f2.8 PRO is a fine complement to the standard-angle M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm F2.8 PRO and the M.Zuiko ED 40-150mm F2.8 PRO . It's sharp throughout its zoom range and...

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 7‑14mm 1:2.8 Pro review

It's all about the width

Super-wide angles of view ; F/2.8 maximum aperture

Edge sharpness better at f/5.6 ; Fixed hood makes filters tricky

Olympus's previous 9-18mm MFT lens wasn't really built for high-end use, but this new lens ranks with the best super-wide zooms from Nikon and Canon.

Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 7-14mm 1:2.8 PRO

The Olympus ED 7-14mm PRO (35mm equivalent: 14-28mm) is a lightweight lens (534g-under 19 oz) constructed with three Super ED lenses, one ED lens and two EDA (aspherical) lenses to minimize peripheral chromatic aberration. This constant aperture zoom...

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 7-14 mm f/2.8 ED PRO

There are not many ultra wide angle, rectilinear zoom lenses with 114 degrees of angle of view on the market. Still it is interesting many of such instruments can be found among the Four Thirds format devices - you can mention here for example the...

weak performance against bright light ; very high distortion level for RAW files ; no possibility to attach classic filters

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO Review

Gary Wolstenholme puts the Olympus ultra-wide angle 7-14mm lens for MFT systems to the test.

Outstanding sharpness from maximum aperture ; Relatively compact and lightweight ; Robust build ; Dust and splash proof ; Quick access for manual focus ; Good value ; Excellent control of CA

Manual focus control easily nudged when changing lenses ; Quite prone to flare

Given the ‘Pro’ moniker assigned to this lens, expectations of its build and performance should be high. During testing this lens proved itself worthy, by delivering images with outstanding sharpness, whilst handling well and sporting a robust dust and...
