Sigma 135mm F1.8 DG HSM Art review

Long ignored by Canon and Nikon, Sigma proves it has what it takes to revitalize the 135mm portrait lens.

Very sharp, even at f/1.8 ; Beautiful bokeh ; Fast, accurate autofocus ; Weather-sealed mount ; Three-position focus limiter

Big, heavy ; No image stabilization

The Sigma 135mm F1.8 DG HSM Art is a stunning example of optical design. It is technically proficient in every metric of performance, but more importantly, it produces images that are simply beautiful to look at. Working with a 135mm is more difficult...

Sigma 135mm F1.8 DG HSM Art

The Sigma 135mm F1.8 DG HSM Art is a lens that portrait photographers will adore: It blurs backgrounds with aplomb and is one of the sharpest we've ever tested.

Razor sharp. Wide aperture. No distortion. Minimal falloff. Dust- and splash-proof design. Focus limiter switch. Available for Canon, Nikon, and Sigma systems.

Quite heavy. Expensive. Omits optical stabilization. May require focus adjustment.

The Sigma 135mm F1.8 DG HSM Art is very sharp, focuses quickly, is built tough, and gathers a heck of a lot of light at f/1.8—which, combined with the long focal length, nets shots with extremely blurred backgrounds. It's not without some...

Sigma 135mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art

Sigma 135mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art review: Is Sigma's new super-fast 135mm the ultimate portrait lens?

Superb sharpness and very few optical aberrations ; Dreamy bokeh ; Superbly built

Rather hefty

It may not be lens that most enthusiast photographers are likely to buy, but it would certainly be worth hiring for a special occasion. For portrait photography in particular, the Sigma 135mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art is very special indeed.

Sigma 135mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art Lens Review

John Riley reviews this bright prime lens, the Sigma 135mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art lens for full-frame Digital SLRs.

The Sigma 135mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art is a really sharp lens, with excellent handling and beautiful bokeh, which makes a powerful mix. Although many photographers have felt that 135mm was slightly too long for a short portrait telephoto, perhaps looking at...
