Sigma 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art

The Sigma 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art is an appealing lens for APS-C SLR owners who want a bright telezoom, but it's on the pricey side.

Very sharp. Bright maximum aperture. Nominal distortion. Rotating tripod collar. Compatible with Sigma USB Dock. Available for multiple systems.

Heavy. Short zoom range. Omits image stabilization. Focus may need adjustment. Pricey.

The Sigma 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art is a lens that is without a lot of competition. Most APS-C telezooms are narrow aperture designs, like the common 55-300mm f/3.5-5.6 variety bundled with entry-level SLR kits. Zooms that step up the quality from kit...

Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens Review

When a newly introduced lens has no equal on the market, it is probably exciting. With the 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens, Sigma brings us an option not seen before. The f/1.8 aperture in a zoom lens covering any of these focal lengths is a welcomed...

Sigma 50-100mm F/1.8 DC HSM Art Review

The Sigma 50-100mm F/1.8 DC HSM Art is an interesting proposition. It’s almost like three or four prime lenses in one (50mm, 60mm 85mm and 100mm), but with the added bonus of offering a wide f/1.8 aperture - something which you won’t find in 100mm...

The Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art gives you a different take on a ‘trinity' telephoto zoom

Sigma 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM | Art

This constant aperture APS-C zoom lens offers an effective focal length of 75-150mm. It is constructed with 3 FLD ("F" Low Dispersion) and 1 SLD (Special Low Dispersion) elements (21 elements in 15 groups in total) and contains an updated (slimmer)...

Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Review

John Riley reviews the new Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 DC telephoto zoom lens with a bright aperture and APS-C coverage.

The Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 DC Art lens is a fine example of the lens maker's art. The zoom range is limited, it's heavy and it could perhaps focus a little closer, but apart from that it would be difficult to find fault with any aspect of its performance.

Sigma A 50-100 mm f/1.8 DC HSM

When it comes to fixed focus lenses the last Sigma launches have been characterized by an excellent optics quality but quite classic parameters. A bit different situation might be observed in the segment of zoom lenses where Sigma is known for offering...

Unique parameters ; Solid, stylish casing ; Brilliant image quality in the frame centre ; Very good resolution on the edge of the frame ; Slight lateral chromatic aberration ; Lack of distortion problems ; Excellent coma correction ; Negligible...

Performance against bright light leaves a lot to be desired ; Noticeable slight influence of spherical aberration

Hefty performer

There have already been a number of reviews online of this lens, most praising the clarity and sharpness of the images it can produce, and so far I can't fault them on those points. It is crisp, fast and silent. However like all Sigma lenses it will...

Clarity ; Sharp Focus

Heavy ; Micro Adjustment ; Slow Zoom

Sigma A 50-100 mm f/1.8 DC HSM

This lens is revolutionizing my shooting.

The most exceptional lens I\'ve ever used, in every respect - even considering the Leica Asph glass I used to have.Corner resolution down to the pixel level by f2.2. Lovely color, great microcontrast. Perfect focus out of the box, with no need for AF...

The weight, I guess. The lack of OS, maybe. Neither of those bother me much

Sigma A 50-100 mm f/1.8 DC HSM

I am still on the fence for this lens. It might be because I love my 28-35 1.8 so much that I need to give it a chance

Sharp, fast, build quality, much better than the 24-105

Now this is a heavy lens, tripod foot but I learned to live with it, hoped it would be as great as my 18-35 1.8 but no not quite. Did I mention heavy? No OS
