Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art

The Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM lens doesn't quite achieve the optical perfection of the $4,000 Zeiss Otus, but it gets close at a quarter of the price.

Incredibly sharp. Minimal distortion. 15.7-inch close focus. Available for several camera systems.

Big. Depth of field scale isn't that useful. No optical stabilization. A little pricey. Dim corners at wide apertures.

Like its 35mm f/1.4 sibling, the Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art is a tremendous lens. It's incredibly sharp, even when shot wide open on a 50MP body, it renders images without distortion, and it does a good job controlling chromatic aberration. Sigma aimed...

Yes, this lens is worth $1,000. Here's why.

Sigma's new 50mm f1.4 lens delivers excellent performance for a pretty reasonable price.

The Sigma 50mm f1.4 lens is a well-designed lens that performs very well for its price.

It would be nice if it had image stabilization.

While it's not cheap, the Sigma 50mm f1.4 lens provides great value for the money.
