Sony DT 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Zoom Lens

Sony's DT 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Zoom is the starter lens bundled with many Sony D-SLRs, and in that context, it's not bad. But buying this lens its own doesn't make a lick of sense.

Lightweight. Internal focus motor.

Soft images. Distortion. Rotating front element. Plastic mount.

Sony DT 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 SAM Lens

A compact, well-built multi-purpose zoom lens for Sony Alpha and SLT cameras.

Our shooting tests were carried out with the Sony SLT-A57 camera, which is reviewed separately. The review lens was a comfortable fit on this camera body and its relatively small size created a good balance for shooting both stills and movies.

Sony DT 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 lens

How does this Sony superzoom stand up to the competition? This Sony DT 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 lens review from What Digital Camera aims to find out.

Lovely feel

No image stabilisation

Overall, this is a nice lens that feels solid and inspires confidence. Its price may be only slightly less than that of some other lenses that include image-stabilisation technology, but it is still a sound investment.

Sony DT 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 Zoom Lens

An extended-range zoom lens that covers a useful focal length range and provides above-average optical performance.Scheduled for release in October, at around the same time as the new Sony DSLR-A700 camera, the DT 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 zoom lens covers a...

Affordably priced, the DT 18-250mm lens would be a good choice for photographers who want a DSLR body with just one extended-zoom lens. Its focal length range covers angles of view that will suit many different types of photographers. Its relatively...

Sony DT 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3

Unfortunately, the Sony DT 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 doesn't feature the Super Sonic wave Motor (SSM) to cut down on AF noise.

Great Enthusiast Camera

Overall a very solid camera that most places cannot keep in stock. Good luck finding the mythical silver version of this camera. I bought it from a local camera retailer and had to wait 3 weeks for it to come in from sony. Another retailer/review site...

Has a lot of pros ; Weight with kit lens is good, feels sturdy and well built ; View screen is nice and clear, touch controls work well, but you can use the scroll wheel as well to browse the menus ; E mount this camera has can be adapted to use any...

Not many cons ; No built in flash, comes with one that has to have a screw rotated in a clockwise fashion to fasten it to the camera. Knew this going into the purchase so no points off ; Does not come with bacon, everything is better with bacon

Surprisingly good

very good iq better than canon or nikon equivalents. Ideal walkaround lens, have used it extensively in the lake district and achieved stunning results, particularly good for sunsets, very punchy colours.

great starter lens

Personally I would prefer a kit lens to have a slightly greater focal length range - 18-70 is ideal. You could of course couple this with a longer zoom such as the Sony 50-200, but it would probably make more sense to get the 18-200, or an equivalent...

good optics, close focus

limited focal length range, zoom ring attracts dust like a magnet

Very impressive

Just bought one of these to replace my old Sony 18-70 kit lens, which was OK apart from the excessive red\/blue chromatic aberration. This is much, much better. It\'s good to see that Sony has ignored the trend for longer and longer zoom ranges and...
