This is a nice upgrade to an already decent lens. Weather sealing, Nano coatings and upgraded SSM are all nice upgrades, but not sure they the worth an additional $1000 over the original lens. Similar upgrades to the 300mm f2.8 and the 70-400mm lenses...

When I first saw this lens, I was impressed with its performance as I played with it in the Sony Store. I am amazed at the image quality this lens captures. It lives up to the G series name. This lens is definitely worth the price.
