very good image quality at the center and the edge of the frame ; insignificant chromatic aberration ; small distortion ; fairly well corrected coma ; very good work against bright light ; quite fast autofocus

noticeable astigmatism ; vignetting larger than in with competitors ; autofocus could be more accurate and quieter ; too much plastic in the body

A very useful lens that performs well and carries a rock-bottom price tag. If I were a Sony user then this lens would simply have to be in my camera bag.

Although this lens is not the best performer when it comes to resolution at maximum aperture, it should still make a great portrait lens when stopped down a little for those on a budget. The out of focus blur is quite smooth and pleasant too.
