Sony 135mm f/1.8 Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* SAL-135F18Z Review

As is the case for most special-application lenses, it comes down to whether or not you know you need it. Optically, we're impressed - it's pretty much as sharp as you can get, even wide open, and steps up to the demanding power of the 24-megapixel A900.

Zeiss Sonnar T* 135mm f/1.8 ZA (Sony SAL-135F18Z) - Full Format Review / Test Report

The Zeiss Sonnar T* 135mm f/1.8 ZA showed an outstanding performance within the APS-C test and it manages to keep most of these qualities on full format sensors as well. The resolution is very good at f/1.8 and great to downright phenomanal beyond. The...

Sony SAL135F18Z 135mm F1.8 Sonnar T* Lens

A fast, high-performance telephoto prime lens with above-average close-up capabilities. One of the first Carl Zeiss lenses to go on sale for the Sony DSLRA100 camera, the 135mm F1.8 Sonnar T* is relatively large and heavy, with a massive front element....

Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 135mm f/1.8 Telephoto Lens - SAL-135F18CZ

A high-performance telephoto lens with the widest aperture in its class. Whether you're shooting a distant mountain peak or a beautiful orchid at arm's length, this superb telephoto lens provides amazing image quality. Its f/1.8 aperture makes it the...

Stunningly sharp images with creamy smooth bokeh

Another of my favourite Zeiss lenses for sure. Like the 85mm there is no SSM or weather sealing, but don't let this put you off this amazing piece of glass. Focus is still very snappy, and i photograph a lot of live performance in difficult, lo light...

The One and Only

I own it...I also have taken thousands of pictures with it. It's almost impossible to take a bad photo with this lens. IMO the 135mm focal length may be the most pleasing for portraits period. The compression is just right and the colors this Zeiss...

All-time Best

I've owned more than 25 SLR lenses. This one is the best. It has the best sharpness and the most natural color, but these words don't begin to express what it does. On an A99, it produces images that just grab you. They have a 3D pop that words fail me...

Specialised lens with unique qualities

This lens is pretty much unique across all lens brands and mounts. It is quite an expensive investment and so you need to ensure that the unique benefits are worth it, over the one or two draw backs. The major feature of this lens is how it renders the...

A very worth while investment

This is a very powerful lens. It is fast and under the right conditions, produces the sharpest images I need for my fine art enlargements. It is a little pricy and rather heavy but the speed and the image stabilization compensates for its weight. It is...

Fantastic Lens.

I bought this lens in mid December, 2013, and I have been stunned by the quality of the photos I have taken with it. It took some getting used to. It is big and heavy, but I love that about it. Sometimes it doesn't focus quickly enough and occasionally...
