Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD

The Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD wide-angle prime lens sets itself apart from the crowd with its macro capability and image stabilization system.

Quite sharp. Minimal distortion. Wide aperture. Optically stabilized design. Very close focus capability. Weather-sealed. Available for Canon, Nikon, and Sony SLRs.

Edge performance lags behind center at wide apertures. Heavy for its size.

Conclusions There's a lot to like about the Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD. Its wide aperture captures a lot of light and allows for a shallow depth of field, and its close focus capability means that the lens serves double-duty as a wide-angle and...

solid, stylish and moisture resistant casing ; minimum focusing distance already from 0.20 of a meter ; very good image quality in the frame centre ; good image quality on the edge of the APS-C sensor ; acceptable image quality on the edge of full...

weak performance against bright light ; autofocus should have been faster

Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD Lens Review

Gary Wolstenholme reviews the new Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD lens, with a bright f/1.8 aperture and built in image stabilisation.

Excellent sharpness in the centre. ; Good build quality ; Effective Vibration Compensation system ; Moisture resistant construction ; Low distortion ; Resistant to flare ; Relatively lightweight

Seems to be priced a little high at launch when compared to similar lenses (although this may change in time)

As this lens becomes more readily available and the price drops to a value nearer to its closest equivalents, the value of this lens will increase. As it stands, the price is a little high. Even so, this lens offers premium features, such as weather...
