Nice Little Media Player

I sent a e-mail out to newegg last week and still has not heard a response. I am seriously thinking about shopping only with other site from now on.

It is very small and compact ; Play media well ; It has no problem recognizing my USB ; It is relatively cheap

The screen changed to black and white after firmware update. It was frustrating for a couple of days but I was able change the setting to get it play color again

Not good

Nothing

The remote control doesn't work all the time, only sometime you can use it. After 1 month the device only show up black and white colors in the movies

AVerMedia AVerLife Cinema Media Player MCECINEMA

Got it on sale, bought 2, 1 for me and 1 for my brother...we want to buy 2 more and they are sold out....we download movies and tv programs..now we don't have to convert, shrink and burn to a disc to play on tv...hooks up in a minute..and works...

an acceptable SD-ONLY player

Will be using this for watching 480p videos on a CRT television via composite - it does that just fine. Video can be upscaled to 720p, but the maximum resolutions prevent anything higher than DVD resolution from playing. Dolby AC3 works. Not many...

compact ; cheap (ShellShocker price) ; decent remote layout ; decent GUI layout ; decent video scaling ; upgradeable firmware ; NTFS support ; Video output: HDMI/Component/Composite ; Audio output: Composite (Stereo)/HDMI (Surround) ; Subtitle support:...

SD-only video playback, making the "720p" moniker somewhat misleading ; does not play older codecs (example, pre-MPEG-4 Quicktime) ; does not play common current codecs (FLAC, h.264) ; has limits on several codecs (example, 2ch AAC only, 15Mbps cap for...

Spend money on something else.

Cheap

limited compatible codecs and file types. Low audio output if you are using a regular tv for your speakers. The unit went black and white after 2 weeks. Color never returned

Good for the price, easy to use

It did come with a long HDMI cable, and a nice YGB cable which would cost a bit to add. I have not tried to play music on it or use a large hard drive (1-2 TB) - I'm planning to only use it on old TVs using composite video for the most part. So far...

Small, easy to hook up and comes with good quality cables and a decent remote control with batteries ; Easy to hook up and use right away. Not much reason to read the manual ; Picture quality is good. I got this to use on an older 25" TV in a bedroom...

Will not play a couple of MPEG or AVI files I have, so I may need to convert them. Not a big deal, I already have the software. I did apply the firmware upgrade, and they still wouldn't play ; Also: when I installed the latest firmware, the unit...

Good low cost media player

As said above. Some supported video media files may need to be converted to play on this unit. The media needs to conform to the units parameters. Example: Video file an MP4 over 720x576? Convert it to an AVI 720x576 or lower and encode using a DivX...

Inexpensive. Small. Simple. Easy to use. Looks nice. Can be operated without the remote if necessary ; I purchased this unit to use on a standard definition TV in my office running using AV outputs. So far it is performing quite well at that task ; I...

Not all formats will play as they are. Even though the format itself may be supported, the content specifications may not. Such as resolution or encoder used ; Not a con in my opinion, but again, this is something you should be aware of before you buy....

Formats

If they would add support for these MKV and Flac I would get a couple more just to leave at friends and families houses for when I visit .

Small foot print easy to take with as a mobile device for use in hotels or friends house

Does not support the most popular video container MKV and sound format Flac

Lies about Formats

Good Looking UI, Easy to use

Doesn't play AVI or MOV files, although it advertises that it does. Only video I could get it to play in MPG... Very disappointing
