Netgear Digital Entertainer Elite EVA9150

Weak video streaming prevents Netgear's Digital Entertainer Elite EVA9150 from being a perfect entertainment center addition.

Excellent file support. Intuitive user interface. Easy-to-use multifunction remote. HD-compatible. Several connectivity options. 500GB hard drive. Built-in YouTube, Flickr, Internet radio support.

Video streaming is very weak. Graphics are rather plain. Sometimes displays wrong album art. Pricey.

NetGear Digital Entertainer Elite EVA9150 review: NetGear Digital Entertainer Elite EVA9150

NetGear Digital Entertainer Elite EVA9150

Network media streamer; enormous file playback compatibility; can access media RSS feeds and play many online video files; includes user-replaceable 500GB hard drive; 802.11a/b/g/n compatible; doesn't require Windows Media Center; plays YouTube videos...

A bit pricey; occasionally crashes; can't play any DRM iTunes Store video purchases; no access to Flash-based online video; and no streaming video services, like Netflix or Amazon Video On Demand.

While it's a bit pricey and far from perfect, the Netgear Digital Entertainer Elite EVA9150 offers an easy way to access the widest array of digital audio, photo, and, especially, video files for the do-it-yourself crowd.

Netgear Digital Entertainer Elite EVA9150

Netgear's EVA9150 improves on the previous-generation Digital Entertainer HD EVA8000 in just about every way. But its best feature has to be the integrated 500GB hard drive, which adds a mere $50 to the new product's price tag. Its inability to stream...

Dual-band 802.11n; strong codec and container support; 500GB hard drive included

No love for Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu

Netgear developed a very good user interface that’s easily navigated from the couch using the full-featured remote control. The EVA9150’s onboard processor upscales digital photos and source video—including YouTube content—to 1080p for output through...

NETGEAR EVA9150 Digital Entertainer Elite Reviewed

Hard drive buffering provides uninterrupted playback with almost any speed network, No computer required for YouTube, Flickr & other Internet content, Smooth 1080p / 24 playback, Improved remote with ability to control other devices

Internet video content limited to partners, User Interface still clunky in spots

Disk-based Network Multimedia Player supporting many formats and Internet Video and photos without requiring a companion PC.

Netgear EVA9150

While the Netgear EVA9150 is far from perfect, it offers an easy way to access the widest array of digital audio, photo and video files for the do-it-yourself crowd.

Extensive format compatibility ; Streams RSS feeds and YouTube videos ; Includes user-replaceable 500GB hard drive ; 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi compatibility ; Doesn't require Windows Media Center

Occasionally crashes ; Can't play DRM iTunes Store and Flash-based videos

Minor glitches and a few crashes aside, the feature set and enormous compatibility found with the Digital Entertainer Elite gives it a huge leg up over competing models. The fact that it doesn't require Windows Media Center is a big advantage and its...

Netgear's Digital Entertainer Elite EVA9150 is a good media streamer, let down by a clunky interface

Jam-packed with features, but it struggles to compete with the best.

NetGear - EVA9150 Digital Entertainer Elite

The Netgear EVA8000 is one the few media streamers we've really been impressed by over the last couple of years, and this is largely to do with the fact that the company successfully updated and revised ...

It's difficult to find enough good things to say about the Entertainer Elite, which builds on the EVA8000 primarily through a more responsive interface, better streaming performance and file management and an excellent remote control. When you throw in...

Netgear EVA9150 Digital Entertainer Elite

A very good media streamer with comprehensive format support, but the price takes the shine off a little

The EVA9150 is a very good network streamer with comprehensive format support and good quality playback. The new additions such as the hard drive and 802.11n support are welcome features and, overall, it's more refined than its predecessor. However,...

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Good - But Not Perfect.

I have had no problems with anything I have tried to play media wise, iso's, mkv's, avi's... all without a hiccup. Was a bit annoying to get photo's to slideshow when played from a digital camera plugged directly into the USB port... but I don't think...

Will play just about anything thrown at it. Blends with other equipment, Polished GUI (Not perfect, but aesthetically pleasing)

Headache with Windows 7. Internet Apps Lacking - No YouTube, NetFlix Support and will never get due to no more updates. PS3 does everything this does except ISOs and mkv's (But I just convert mkv's into a compatible format).
