BenQ XL2730Z

The 27-inch BenQ XL2730Z is a feature-rich gaming monitor offering stellar performance and AMD's FreeSync anti-tearing technology.

Supports AMD's FreeSync technology. Lots of video inputs. USB hub. Quad HD resolution. Excellent gaming performance in testing.

Expensive. Narrow viewing angles.

Conclusion With the BenQ XL2730Z, you get excellent gaming performance, accurate colors, and AMD's FreeSync technology, which eliminates screen tearing and helps deliver smooth gameplay. The 27-inch panel delivers deep blacks, and its 2,560-by-1,440...

BenQ XL2730Z 27-inch FreeSync Monitor Review

For our first chance to examine AMD's FreeSync, BenQ sent us its brand-new XL2730Z, and we're running it through our demanding suite.

144Hz refresh rate • Blur-reduction • Build quality • FreeSync • Gaming-oriented features • Image accuracy • QHD resolution • S-Switch OSD controller

Price • TN panel

For a first-generation product, BenQ has checked every box except panel technology. We’d prefer an IPS panel but with its other performance virtues, the XL2730Z is a winner in our opinion. It’s not cheap but once you’ve experienced the frame-rate...

BenQ XL2730Z Review (AMD FreeSync Follow-up)

Last month AMD launched a new technology, FreeSync, which is designed to enhance the visual experience for gamers by solving long standing issues. Today we take a look at one of the first screens to support this technology in our BenQ XL2730Z review.

When we first tested FreeSync this is what we had to say…

BenQ XL2730Z

The BenQ XL2730Z is an all-singing, all-dancing gaming monitor that's bursting with features. Top of the hit list is the presence of AMD's new FreeSync technology and this is joined by a 2560 x 1440-pixel resolution, a blur-reduction mode, 144Hz...

Gaming performance is exceptional ; FreeSync works superbly ; Loads of useful extra features ; Good image quality for a TN panel

Headphone jack audio quality is poor ; Viewing angles not as good as IPS screens ; Image quality is only okay for the price

BenQ XL2730Z gaming monitor review

BenQ has impressed us with its range of monitors and projectors in the past, and its latest XL2730Z is on the review bench today, boasting tip-top gaming performance, a quad HD display, an easy to assemble stand and a remote control to help you fiddle...

BenQ's higher range of gaming monitors usually pack in tip-top performance when it comes to gaming, and the XL2730Z doesn't lag behind any of its peers. The 144Hz refresh rate is lightning quick, and if you have a gaming rig capable of pushing the best...

Despite its high price tag and tip top visual quality, the XL2730Z does fall short in a few ways. Its TN panel means that viewing angles aren't ideal, and colour reproduction does shift around at certain, extreme angles. It's not the end of the world,...

The BenQ XL2730Z gaming monitor is a tip-top performer that's a joy to game with, boasts great image quality and plenty of resolution, but it's rather pricey, viewing angles aren't great and the headphone jack is abysmal. Still, for the gamer who wants...

Review: BenQ XL2730Z FreeSync Display

This is the second FreeSync display to hit the labs this month – for more details about AMD's new display technology, head over to the LG display review a few pages away. So what does BenQ's FreeSync display bring to the table?

"So much for FreeSync being an affordable competitor to Nvidia’s G-Sync then."

BenQ XL2730Z Gaming Monitor Review

Great build quality, low input lag and a selection of features designed to provide a gaming advantage. What's not to like?

Great motion handling ; Fairly low input lag ; Accurate colours post calibration ; Some useful features ; Excellent connectivity ; Good build quality

A couple of uniformity issues ; Inaccurate in default picture modes

The BenQ XL2730Z makes an excellent choice for gamers with Adaptive Sync technology, low input lag, the ability to take a 144Hz video signal, via its HDMI 2.0 input and DisplayPort connection, plus a range of features designed to provide a competitive...

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Poor quality control and support.

Assumed in error that Benq had better QC than the larger OEM's producing similar monitors right now. Based on my experience I think the QC is about the same across the board. I was surprised by how little Benq support did to help (i.e. literally...

Gaming at 1440p and 144hz is a great experience. High quality stand. Puck remote is actually very handy.

Received unit with excessive blue tinted light bleed in the lower right corner and along bottom bezel. Not a nitpick at all it shouldn't have passed QC. Replacement unit had a bright cluster of pixels in the center of the screen. It was also...

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Pretty good, until it failed unexpectedly

A monitor less than a year old should not be failing like this so soon. Poor quality control, BenQ.

Good color depth, easy to set up, like the side-mounted USB ports.

Monitor display suddenly started flickering like mad recently. Needs to be RMA'd
