The Dell UltraSharp U2913WM is s unique 29-inch ultra-widescreen monitor offering a 21:9 aspect ratio and solid IPS color and grayscale quality but it may not be the best choice for gamers.

Great color quality.Very good grayscale performance. Generous port selection.

Vertical viewing angle could be better. No speakers. Mediocre motion handling.

Review Roundup: Get a bigger picture with an ultrawide 29-inch display

 

Dell consistently produces great monitors, and the U2913WM is no exception, although we don't care for the Autocolor feature that "optimizes" the display for the currently active application.

Excellent off-axis viewing ; Very flexible stand ; Overall very good image quality

No audio speakers ; Autocolor feature has its quirks

Despite some technical flaws, the U2913WM is a good monitor with an excellent price. At AU$599, it's enough that people will be asking if they want a 27-inch with the extra 360 vertical pixels, or if 21:9 is in their future.

Games are incredibly immersive ; Quite affordable ; Great choice of inputs ; Attractive design ; Better than average HDMI performance

USB 3.0 ports on side sometimes acted at USB 2.0 speeds ; Dell's new menu buttons are less intuitive ; If a movie isn't natively 21:9, it can look rather bad ; Still drew power when switched off ; Some inversion tests turned purple

What's rather spectacular about the U2913WM, though, is the price — at AU$599, it's enough that people will be asking if they want a 27-inch with the extra 360 vertical pixels, or if 21:9 is in their future.

Not perfect, but the aspect ratio is killer!

 

The wide screen makes watching wide format media wonderful. The variety of inputs, the audio output for HDMI connections, the professional calibration, all are on point

Good but had to RMA

 

I've had good luck with Dell Ultrasharp displays in the past and I have confidence that the replacement will give me the long life I'm used to from my previous Ultrasharp monitors.

The widescreen resolution is pretty nice, colors are accurate and it has just about every connection type you can think of including a 4 port USB 3 hub

After having it for a while a vertical row of green pixels bite the dust. It also started randomly getting stuck on so you had to hold the "button" for 5-10 seconds for it to power off. Sometimes it would also go dead and just show a black or white...

Seems to have a bad component that degrades over time.

 

Dell was generally very good about supporting this problem, and happily sent me a replacement right away with just a few hiccups in the process. I contacted Dell again a few days ago (9 months after the first replacement), and this time I had to jump...

Nice color, snappy latency and good overall performance. I really like the extra wide aspect ratio for the software I work in, since it has tool panels on the sides which would otherwise cramp my work space

The monitor has trouble sleeping. The first one I got had problems almost right away, then degraded quickly. Dell sent me a new one fairly quickly. The second one seemed perfect at first, then failed once a month, then once a week, and now only 9...

Best ever Birthday present ever!!!! Thanks Brother!!!!

I can have plethora of multimedia pages up and going at the same time, photos & videos are always crisp and clear. And while I'm gaming viewing looks more 3D like, and the thinner bezel is an awesome idea
