HP ZR2440w LCD Monitor Review: 24-Inch Display Offers Brilliant Color

At $425, the 24-inch HP ZR2440w was the most expensive monitor in our latest test group, but it was also the most capable. It produces brilliant images, it's easy to adjust, and it can connect to your other electronic devices in lots of ways.

Ergonomically flexible design ; Great on-screen performance ; Integrated USB hub

Relatively expensive

The ZR2440w is a fairly expensive display, but it swept the competition in our latest on-screen performance tests.

HP ZR2440w

The HP ZR2440w 24-inch IPS monitor delivers outstanding color quality and is loaded with ergonomic and connectivity options.

Excellent color and viewing angle performance. Lots of I/O ports. Ergonomic stand. Reasonably priced.

Grayscale performance could be better. No auto-pivot. Slight motion blur.

Freezes - Must be hard reset often.

Idea of 1920x1200 for 1080p prices sounds enticing but please save yourself some aggravation and stay away.

Unlike other reviewer my bezel didn't come off the monitor

Where to begin. Like other reviewer, I could not believe when I opened the outside container to find the monitor just laying in the cardboard box. Side edges touching outside of box so any bumps along the way certainly affected the monitor. Worked fine...

worst packaging ever, bezel separated, still good monitor

This monitor was purchased as a replacement to dock with an older laptop that is used for office and light graphics/development work. Even though it was a refurbished monitor, this is the worst packaging I've ever received including ëBay and even...

great price, display is bright and clear for an inexpensive monitor, has 1920x1200 resolution

worst packaging ever, almost 1500 hours of backlight use already

Great monitor - very happy

This is a fantastic monitor. I purchased it in Feb 2014 to replace a second-hand Dell 19" business display that died. I have my PC (DVI) and PS3 (HDMI) both hooked up. It's great for regular PC use, photo editing, video games, and movies; with no...

Whites are white ; Colors are still good at lower brightness ; Lots of good OSD options (disable power light!) ; Audio pass-through for HDMI and DisplayPort connections ; 1200 lines: those last 120 lines make a difference ; Just the right DPI for my setup

A little bit of light bleed, IPS glow, or whatever around the edges on very dark screens ; Makes my 10-year-old Hyundai 19" look pale and anemic by comparison ; No VGA D-Sub connector

Great monitor!

Incredibly bright screen. Like eye-meltingly bright. Definitely don't need to have this baby turned up very high for brightness ; Nice simple bevel and the base is nice, holds onto your random things like pens and flash drives. The screen stays right...

No VGA? I'm all for moving on to DVI/HDMI but some people still kinda need VGA for certain older products. Not the worst con, but still odd to forgo it

All three monitors perfect

none of my three ZR2440w monitors have stuck/bad pixels ; lightweight ; good even image quality (very nice blacks and whites and near zero back-light bleeding) ; lots of inputs and 3.5mm audio out ; professionally looking

no cons

Hard to imagine a better overall monitor

Packaged well, and comes with DVI and HDMI cables. I only wish I had the money to buy a second one!

Upon first boot, it cycled through the input choices and recognized it and the resolution. The factory settings were pretty close to my own preferences -- how often does that happen! The stand is aluminum covered in plastic, but height/tilt adjustments...

Absolutely none

Great monitor

Got it for under $350 at provantage, but Neweggs price is fine.

1920x1200 ; Great OSD/menu options, such as input switching ; No dead pixels ; Stand is really sturdy and easy to adjust ; USB hub works great ; Looks good throughout the brightness range ; Design is basically invisible

sometimes takes an extra few seconds to boot up compared to my NEC P221w LCD, but that's nitpicking - being LED, once it's up it's up (no warm-up time like on my NEC)
