LG 34UC98 review

LG's ultrawide 34UC98 monitor adds FreeSync to attract gamers, but its price is too steep.

If you’re looking to spend $1,000 or more on a monitor, reaching for an ultrawide shouldn’t be a tough decision, but which one you choose might be. Samsung, LG, and Dell all have solid offerings, and the only factors that set them apart are price and...

LG 34UC98-W

The 34-inch LG 34UC98-W is an attractive curved-screen monitor that offers AMD's FreeSync anti-tearing technology, a solid feature set, and very good gaming performance.

Sleek design. Generous feature set. AMD FreeSync enabled. Excellent gaming performance. Lots of advanced and gamer-friendly settings.

Expensive. Slightly skewed color accuracy. Stingy warranty.

Conclusion With the LG 34UC98-W, you get solid gaming performance and a sharp, highly detailed picture on a spacious 34-inch, widescreen panel. Its 1,900R curvature ratio puts you a bit closer to the action than other curved big-screen monitors that...

LG 34UC98 34-inch Curved FreeSync Monitor Review

Today we're checking out LG's latest curved gaming monitor: the 34UC98. It's an IPS screen with 3440x1440 pixels, FreeSync, a 75Hz max refresh rate and MaxxAudio-tuned speakers.

FreeSync • No calibration necessary • Super-accurate • 1900R curve for immersive gameplay

Middling contrast • Small 55-75Hz FreeSync range • Merely average input lag • Expensive

Even though the prices of curved monitors are still $1000 and up, we like the category enough to keep covering it. And obviously people are buying them or we wouldn't see new models continue to appear. Like it or not, the curve seems here to stay and...

Goondu review: LG 34UC98 curved monitor October 9th, 2016 | by Alfred Siew PC 0 LG’s 34UC98 PC monitor features an attractive curved screen. PHOTO: Ha

With a smart design, the LG 34UC98 is one of the most attractive curved monitors out there if you are seeking an ultrawide screen for your PC.

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Clear and crisp display - Not pixelated on the curve like others - Speakers are a nice touch - True and natural colors

It would be nice to have the option of a DVI port, but I get that is not a popular option over the others it has now-a-days. ( I had to go buy a cable as it was not included and I only had a DVI when this arrived.) If you are looking for a nice HD...

The image is consistently crisp on all aspects of viewing. Unlike many monitors, as you go from the middle to the edge, the image gets distorted and pixelated. The colors are life-like and so vibrant, you can look at this screen all day. I used this to...

None as of the time of this review. I am quite happy with this monitor so far.

I'll never go back

You will probably lose some friends over this. Once they see it and how glorious it is when it comes to consuming and creating content, they won't want to talk to you again out of envy. *I was offered this product in exchange for a review*

It's amazing how much detail you miss out on without even knowing it. It really is a night and day difference between a standard 1080P set and this 1440P beauty. Pictures at higher resolutions are so crisp and vivid. Movies in the format look...

Although not really a con, make sure you measure you're desk before clicking the buy button. This thing is HUGE and absolutely dwarfs my 23" 1080P panel. If you're not used to large format displays, it can be a little frustrating getting accustomed to...

Almost the perfect 34" monitor

My current setup is a custom liquid loop running an I7 2700@5Ghz, overclocked G1 980ti's in SLI on water, an Obutto Revolution Sim rig and prior to this LG monitor, had triple 24" Acer 144Hz monitors in surround. The bezel corrected resolution for that...

- 4K is still a bit premature in support and is harder to drive (requires higher end equipment to take full advantage) - this 2K resolution is PERFECT right now and far more accessible to the masses - Perfectly calibrated right out of the box - No dead...

- If you're used to high refresh monitors (100-144hz) running at 60Hz (or the overclocked 75Hz) is very noticeable in gaming - more on that in final thoughts - No DVI port(s) - Not sure what the GTG is on this monitor but it feels slow, even for an IPS...

LG 34UC98

Great viewing angles. This curved display fills your vision without cramping your neck. Resolution is amazing. I can almost get by with one monitor now. Thunderbolt ports are great for working with a Macbook. I plug my network adapter into the second...

Horrible image persistence problems. I'm a software developer and by the end of the day I can see code burned into the display that I left up on the screen in one of the multiple windows I'm able to open on this huge display.

Huge improvement over previous LG UltraWide Monitors..

I choose this monitor over an Acer Predator x34 because I wanted a quality product that works right out the box. If im going to invest over $1000 on a display I don't want to deal with dead pixles, coil whine, and poor factory color calibration.

Beautiful display! Improved curve design. Not too exaggerated for work or productivity. Color accurate right out of the box. Runs at 75hz using displayport. Little to no backlight bleeding. Uses AMD freesync No dead pixles No coil whine Great quality...

Manufacuture DisplayPort cable does not work over 60hz? Some backlight bleeding. Did not come with USB 3.0 cable. Terrible for Online FPS games No G-sync
