LG Electronics LG Flatron L1780U

Stylish and compact design ; Pivots to portrait mode ; Can adjust up and down

Confusing built-in controls ; Colors a little washed out and blue before calibration

LG Flatron L1780U

The LG L1780U's small and stylish design is very flexible. Once calibrated, it performed well as a general-purpose display and would be a good fit for users with limited desktop space.

Pivots to portrait mode ; can adjust up and down ; stylish and compact design

Colors a little washed out and blue before calibration ; confusing built-in controls

After we plugged in the display's power brick and attached the included DVI cable to our test Mac (an analog connector is also included), the L1780U booted into its native 1,280-by-1,024-pixel resolution, but the colors looked a little blue and washed out

LG L1780Q

This montitor exudes the same class as its elder brother. Does it perform as well?

Excellent color reproduction and contrast, Classy and sleek, 8 ms response time, Auto Pivot support

Minor color registration issue, Expensive

Paperless

Price.

Dithering! Very disappointing but this monitor offers 6 bits per color channel as opposed to 8, which therefore causes bad dithering, it somewhat reminds me of my old matrix printer.

Good monitor

Overall its a great monitor and beautiful display, but the software tuing could use a little fixing...

Great monitor..very brilliant colors!, plays games great

buttons are a little too pressure sensitive for my taste, but i work around it ; ALSO...the Forte manager crashed my system a few times, stopping all activity upon start up...be wary about installing this program

Should have bought the Samsung?

The price drop on this monitor by Newegg has been incredible, an exceptionally good buy, without a rebate! And I did not need sunglasses to view the screen. For my PC, text is better with DVI. Given the gripes, should I have bought the Samsung? … Nah.

It's has all the things you look for, in ahh, monitor: good looks, bright, clean image, flexible, and no dead pixels (at least for mine). The something extra helps: you can rotate the screen and it automatically (or manually through a few clicks)...

The buttons…. there are only two people who could like the buttons, and they both posted reviews, the engineer who designed them and his mother. Not a deal killer for me. One other problem. The bundled software Forte Manager added display problems...
