MSI Optix MPG27CQ

With its high refresh rate and quick pixel response, the MSI Optix MPG27CQ is a good choice for high-performance gaming, but it lacks HDR and was only so-so in our video testing.

144Hz native refresh rate over either DisplayPort or HDMI connection. Support for AMD FreeSync. Good pixel response. Nifty RGB lighting.

Lacks support for HDR. Ho-hum video-playback performance.

Bottom Line: With its high refresh rate and quick pixel response, the MSI Optix MPG27CQ is a good choice for high-performance esports gaming, but it lacks HDR and was only so-so in our video testing.

MSI Optix MPG27CQ Curved Monitor Review: Cool RGB Lighting, Enticing Price

The MSI Optix MPG27CQ is a decent gaming monitor, thanks to its curved display panel and solid collection of gaming-oriented features. With a 144Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync capability, it offers smooth, tear-free gameplay that will work with even...

Customizable RGB lighting ; Highly adjustable stand ; Curved design enhances immersion and visibility ; Strong overall performance

No HDR support ; Audio pass-thru only, Lighting customization is limited

The MSI Optix MPG27CQ delivers all sorts of gaming-oriented capability, from a wide color gamut and fast response times to AMD FreeSync support and fancy lighting that's more than just eye candy.

MSI Optix MPG27CQ review: A gaming monitor with RGB lights that serve a purpose

The first monitor to use SteelSeries' GameSense tech has a responsive 144Hz 1440p panel and excellent image quality

144Hz refresh rate at 1440p ; Ideal for competitive and casual gamers ; Punchy colours

GameSense doesn’t support all games ; Too dim when 'Fastest' response time setting enabled

Despite the MSI representing the best use of RGB I’ve seen on a monitor, then, it’s still not something that would persuade me to choose it over its rivals.

MSI Optix MAG27CQ

With a relatively small selection of screens, MSI aimed to make the Optix MAG27CQ something special, and succeeded. A high refresh rate, 1800R curved panel and 1440p resolution make this panel idea for those that like a smooth and colourful experience...

MSI Optix MPG27CQ Gaming Monitor Review: Color Curves, Calibration Conundrums

In our coverage of the latest high dynamic range (HDR) monitors, we've talked a lot about extended color and its impact on both gaming and other kinds of entertainment. It's not enough to offer 3,840 x 2,160 resolution and HDR. You need a color gamut...

Vivid color and contrast ; Good gaming performance ; Backlight strobe option up to 144Hz ; Good build quality

No sRGB gamut option ; Calibration yields zero benefits ; Lighting software has limited support ; Brightness is fixed in Anti Motion Blur mode

The MSI MPG27CQ is a competent gaming monitor with excellent video processing and contrast, FreeSync and a 144Hz refresh rate. Its out-of-box color is good enough without calibration, but software support for the RGB lighting is limited.

MSI Optix MPG27CQ

I had been using a pretty average Samsung 24" TN screen for years, but was able to take advantage of one of MSI's sales recently which allowed me a purchase this beautiful 27" MPG27CQ by MSI.

Fantastic monitor loaded with features

I bought this to upgrade from a 1080p AOC 144hz monitor, really impressed with the picture clarity and colours on it after changing a few settings. Loaded with extra features, and added bonus of being a monitor that supports G-sync with the recent...

Great curved monitor

"The colour range and sharp text on this monitor is great. I read a few reviews and saw that it does take a little setting up but I found plenty of guides online on how to set it up correctly. Love the little pop out arm on the side to hold my headset...
