Samsung 172MP

Samsung's display is a competent performer, though it falls short of the Dell and ViewSonic entries on features.

Without the wide format, the 172MP is not as well suited for dvd and HDTV use, as are the others here. But if your need is primarily for a large computer monitor that can also put up a television image in a PIP window, this is a good choice.

Includes TV tuner and multiple video-in jacks; cool picture-in-picture feature; quality embedded speakers; remote control.

Easel design limits adjustability; no digital input; more expensive than most conventional 17-inch LCDs.

The SyncMaster 172MP is pricey, but its built-in TV and video-input capabilities make it a good option for multitaskers, students, and anyone with limited space.

SAMSUNG SYNCMASTER 172MP MULTIFUNCTION LCD MONITOR

Samsung has done nothing but improve on a good product with the 172MP. For ~US$700, you don't only get a decent 17 inch LCD monitor, but also a mini-multimedia center with full component and composite audio and video capabilities.
