Exclusive: Mad Catz Cyborg Rat 9 review

In a world full of the shapely blobs we call computer mice, the Cyborg Rat stands out. It's skeletal, metallic, and almost completely asymmetrical. Though most...

Cyborg R.A.T. review

Easily one of the most distinctive-looking mice we've reviewed, the Mad Catz Cyborg R.A.T. 9 is aimed at dedicated PC gamers. This wireless device boasts the highest degree of customizability we've seen in a gaming mouse, along with the highest price...

The Mad Catz Cyborg R.A.T. 9 is the most customizable gaming mouse available. Its two battery packs and included recharging station mean no downtime. Its unique looks make a statement, it boasts strong build quality, and it features useful button...

This mouse is expensive at $149. The lateral scroll wheel is positioned awkwardly.

The Mad Catz Cyborg R.A.T. 9 is the most expensive gaming mouse we know of, but its vast customizability, unique features, and strong performance make it a worthwhile expense for demanding PC gamers.

Wireless gaming mouse

Fully customisable ; Good wireless signal ; Extra battery included ; Charging dock works well ; Feels comfortable

Looks not to everyone's taste ; Expensive ; Not the best gaming mouse

Overall this is a good, yet very expensive wireless mouse that adapts to your gaming style, and not the other way around.

Mad Catz Cyborg R.A.T. 9 Wireless Gaming Mouse Review

MadCatz are a leading manufacturer and provider of some of the coolest products on the market, with their main focus on the console and portable gaming scene, but they do also cater for the PC peripheral market, especially when it comes to suitable...

Built on previous success in the R.A.T. series ; Fits any size hand ; Adjustable weight ; Unique ; Has a certain sense of quality ; Desirable

Gaming is where it really comes into its own as you can adjust the DPI settings on the fly which is handy if you’re fighting off soldiers as a sniper, as you have the ability to drop the DPI to its lowest setting. If you're playing a fast-paced game...

"Best gaming mouse for the money I have ever seen."

I have a RAT 7, a Logitech G 700, a Mionix Sensei, a Steel Series XAI and 3 Raxer gaming mice and I like this better than any of them. The fact that it costs less than half of the rest of them doesn't hurt.

The mouse has a very light weight but is very smooth. The clicks and scroll are precise. It feels very good in the hand. The adjustment to change the dpi settings on the fly work great.

Probably not the best mouse for people with large hands or who are incapable of seeking a replacement mouse from the manufacturer if they get a bad one.

"Unreliable, broke with simple desktop use in an hour."

It looks different, and edgy, but actually fits your hand quite nicely. Buttons are placed for easy access to several programmable commands, and a nice list of games with presets. It looks a frail, but is sturdy enough to drop a few times I suppose....

adjustability, size, and if you find a working one, it beats alot of the other mouses in the same price range.

well, it broke within first hour of use, just stopped and never woke up. This being the cheapest model without weights, it shows in series of fast movements.

Adjustability Amazing - Battery Absoutly Horriable

If you like the idea of adaptability - BUY THE WIRED VERSION (RAT 7). The wireless RAT 9 sucks.

Mechanically can fit just about anyone - just great! Allows customizing for any game you choose. Still works well after 2+ years.

Battery life is the WORST I have ever seen (3-4 hours) - hard to remove - and they WEAR OUT.

Cheaply made garbage

Nice concept but critical quality flaws. don't buy this just because it looks cool because you could be getting something much higher quality for less money.

temporary on-the-fly DPI button makes sniping or graphics design very easy looks cool configurable form factor profiles

price. it's simply not worth it when higher quality devices cost much less terrible battery life terrible build quality materials decompose rapidly (the metal corrodes and batteries die faster) terrible software support cursor takes a mind of it's own...

Good concept but flawed and HORRIBLE quality

DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE. it looks cool-- but you can buy a much higher quality and better functioning mouse for a lot less money.

Configurable form factor - though cool is also not really necessary. dpi changer on the fly - this is the strongest accolade of the mouse. sets sensitivity to incredibly low while the button is depressed. Useful for sniping or graphics design. profiles...

The worst quality piece of tech i've ever purchased. I've had this mouse for over a year and all the metal parts have corroded and one of the batteries has craped out. Batteries only last a couple of hours. Calibration breaks and the cursor takes on a...

Wireless: Inferior to its predecessor (RAT 7)

Overall, I do not recommend this mouse at all, due to the fact that it is a wireless mouse. I am more content in using a mouse that will not disconnect during sessions.

Extremely customizable mouse means great comfort. Pinkie rest attachments for bigger hands. With 2 battery packs and a charging base/wireless base, you can "hot swap" in between sessions quickly. Extra slot on base to put my mouse weights(!)

Wireless mouse means that it is more prone to disconnect, and it has happened quite frequently for me. Battery life, itself, is quite short. It only lasted for about 6-8 hours for me during sessions between gaming and work.
