Microsoft Standard Wireless Optical Mouse

Microsoft continues to innovate on their hardware technology, something that they are arguably better at than software. And we continue to review all their mice that they have to offer. Today, we take a look at one more, the Standard Wireless Optical...

Range SUCKS

Ended up getting mad and chucking it across the room against the wall. Didn't want to RMA it because shipping would cost me 10 bucks, which was about half of the purchase price of the mouse. At least I have some extra USB cable now.

No setup, just plug it in ; Looks nice, so it makes a great paperweight

The range is HORRIBLE. I couldn't get it to work more then 1 foot away

It's a wireless mouse and it works for lefty's

It's a very basic, simplistic mouse for those of us who don't need 5-7 buttons on a mouse.

You plug it in and it works (Windows 7). Plus, it's comfortable for us lefty's. I can stand the angled mice that are specifically made for right handed people

Short Lived Mouse

Worked for about 10 days

Out of the box, it had the bad habit of pulling down drop down menus for no good reason. After the tenth day, it would not move the cursor. Being RMA'd and am buying some other model

RF range not very good

The mouse is comfortable to use, the feel is similar to the Intellimouse Optical USB

The mouse is less than three feet away from the receiver, but there were two occassions that it failed to respond, I had to rearrange the receiver and it worked again

eh

All in all it is a decent mouse for the price and pretty good for a wireless mouse. I will still use it when I get it back until it dies again then I am going for a Logitech mouse and spend a little extra for a lot better mouse. I hope it was just a...

Good range works from across my room. Long battery life

Died after 3 months, I was playing a game and it just quit working. I tried reconnecting it and using other usb ports and replaced the batteries. I sent it in for RMA and waiting for it to get back. When it did work it didn't completely work, it had to...

Some interference issues

Comfortable shape and size for my hand. Nice appearance. Easy to install. Smooth accurate control of curser

I had problems with interference from my wife's wireless optical mouse which was about 15 feet away. Problems stopped when she switched back to a cabled mouse

Best Cordless I've used

Best mouse I ever bought. I love Microsoft hardware.

Scroll wheel has a positive feel, not perfect, but better than any $50 mouse I've touched ; Not a Logitech, I've had 3 Logitechs explode in my hand during gaming, scares the heck out of a person and ruins the desk with the battery acid ; Reads on...

Ughhhh... it wasn't free

Great little mouse!!

I love this little mouse. I've had mine sice 2004, it's been flawless since I bought it. My only complaint with the mouse is that it didn't work with a Zonet USB KVM I had. I liked mine so much that I bought my brother the same mouse for a b-day gift....

Wireless. Reliable. Long battery life. Decent RF reception

It's not a con, but I had the mouse downstairs (don't know why) and I clicked, which unpaused my game and I died. I was about 25 feet away - two rooms over and 1 floor down. Then again, batteries were brand new

Reliable

I have the receiver sitting right by the edge of my mousepad. Sometimes the mouse will do strange things if there's something in between the mouse and the receiver, like a soda can. Not really a big deal though. Also, it has the standard 3 button...

I've had this mouse since the winter of 2005, and have never had a single issue with it. It works as soon as you plug it in, batteries last for months, it's a good weight, it's comfortable, and the design is simple. I play a lot of FPS games, and the...
