Cowon C2 portable media player review

And here you were assuming the tried-and-true PMP was dead. Au contraire. Cowon's not giving up on its dream quite yet, but after the D2 hung around at

Wildly small ; 16GB of inbuilt storage + microSD slot ; World-class audio quality

Ho hum display ; UI navigation can be tricky ; Doesn't use a standard micro-USB plug

Can't beat the audio quality, and it's as cute as a button. Just don't forget to pack Cowon's proprietary charging adapter.

Cowon D2 Plus review: Cowon D2 Plus

Cowon D2 Plus

The Cowon D2+ touch-screen MP3 player offers rich sound, long battery life, and seamlessly integrated memory expansion.

There's no AAC support on the D2+, most videos require conversion, line input and video output features require extra cables, and menu scrolling can be tedious.

The Cowon D2+ is a sturdy little touch-screen MP3 player with flexible sound enhancement settings and useful features, but it hasn't changed much from the original version we saw in 2007.

Cowon D2+ (16GB, silver)

Cowon's original D2 MP3 player from 2007 quickly earned a reputation for outstanding sound quality, a long-lasting battery, and cutting-edge touch-screen technology. Two years later, the Cowon D2+ refines the audio quality and touch-screen interface...

Cowon D2

The tiny D2 is nothing to write home about, but it does have a few things that the iPod nano doesn't.

Easy to load with music, songs, and video. Lightweight and small. Sharp LCD. Touch screen. Expandable up to 12GB with SD card. TV-out for video playback.

Interface can be annoying. Scroll-bar awkwardly placed. Images take too long to load and render.

Review: Cowon D2 2GB Portable Multimedia Player

It may be tiny, but Cowon's new D2 clocks a freakishly-high 52 hours of audio playback time (and 10 hours of video). Its gorgeous 2.5-inch...

Touch screen navigation works great with included triangular stylus. Incredible sound quality with numerous audio enhancement options. Supports MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, WAV and APE formats as well as PlaysForSure content. MTP and MSC storage modes....

No video for Mac users; all video must be converted with included PC-only software. Pricey for just 2GB of built-in memory

Cowon D2 review: Cowon D2

The Cowon D2 MP3 player offers a sleek and compact design dominated by a lovely, touch-sensitive screen. The device is packed with almost every feature in the book, including video playback, voice recording, and an FM tuner. The D2 comes with a handy...

The Cowon D2 is pricier than similarly featured MP3 players, and it's a bit heavy. The touch interface won't appeal to all users, specifically active ones.

If you can get on board with the Cowon D2's PDA-like touch screen interface, the reward is great-sounding audio, a smorgasbord of features, and a fantastic battery life.

Cowon iAudio D2 Reviewed: DAB touchscreen PMP

iPod who? Let's face it, if you're in the market for a portable media player and you're less than swayed by Apple's offerings, there's never been better choice of rivals, each playing catch-up to the market leader by offering – in general, anyway –...

Cowon D2

Cowon provides a wealth of choice where SanDisk sets severe limits: The D2 supports not only MP3, WMA, and secure WMA, but also OGG, FLAC, and even WAV.

Support for all types of media, including lossless audio formats

Not enough built-in memory

The D2 is supremely versatile, it sounds fabulous, and it’s certainly priced right. Oh, what we wouldn’t give to trade its highfalutin touch screen for a simple control wheel and a couple of buttons.

Cowon C2 Review

Enter the newly released C2. As I said, do not try to make sense of Cowon's naming schemes – the C2 is ‘the real D3', so to speak. It actually is still more of a D2 than anything else – basically the same hardware, the same form factor, the same...

Best-in-class BBE sound enhancements, very good sounding hardware EQ ; Gapless audio playback (with properly encoded files) ; Excellent audio codec support, good video codec support ; Undocumented features: supports AAC/MP4/M4A audio, some h264/AAC/MP4...

Outdated low-res TFT screen, sub-par resistive touch response ; Awkward, incoherent/inconsistent user interface, too ‘cute’ looks ; Gimmicky ‘spinning vinyl’ album art ; Sub-par support for playlists and audiobooks ; Video interface lacks pan/scan...

The Cowon C2 is a very good audio player, packed full of features and top notch sound tweaks. It would be a decent video player too, but the low-res 4:3 screen isn’t really up to today’s standards. Resistive touch controls are also a bit dated for...
