Simple setup ; Charges iPhone quickly, even without audio playback ; Display lights up, yet is not too bright for vehicle cabin

FM reception in most metro areas is quite crowded ; Modern car design places the FM antenna outside the passenger compartment, blocking or interfering with much of the signal ; FM sound is not as good as directly wired sound

I love having an iPhone, it is a phone, media player, portable gaming device, camera and much more. I'm sure if you don't have an iPhone but have a smartphone

Griffin iTrip Auto SmartScan

The Griffin iTrip Auto SmartScan is an attractive FM transmitter and battery charger for the iPod that can make short work of finding a suitable station for in-car broadcasting.

The mirrored surface on the Griffin iTrip Auto's display is distracting and nearly illegible during daylight. The iTrip's long cable may be too messy for neat freaks. As the name implies, the iTrip Auto can be used only in your car.

The Griffin iTrip Auto can only bring distraction and eye strain. Last year's more useable model can be found for half the price.

Griffin's iTrip Auto is well designed and easy on the eyes, but it fails to outperform the DLO TransPod, our current favorite FM transmitter for the Apple iPod.

Not worth your money

 

I've had this product for about 3 months now and cable ends where it's connected have come out and now no longer works. Poor cable design, for how much you pay it's not worth it. This is my second time purchasing this item as the first one lasted me...

Best fm transmitter I have ever used. I bought my mum one, but unfortunately it doesn't work as well (it is a slightly different model and plugs into the earphone jack not ipod connector like mine). Alternates - believe it or not, the dirt cheap...

Easy to use, resistance to close frequency radio stations, proper ipod connector sounds better than earphone jack

can't charge ipod 4th gen nano (and 5th I am led to believe)

Overall a quality product with clear sound which is the most important thing. It has a nice LCD and the ease of installation is very straight forward. recommended to anyone who does not have an MP3 player in the car or home.

great that it's a charger as well as an fm transmitter, so I don't have to worry about the battery life

Very simple to use and operate, strong fm signals, good sound

Lack of presets, the lcd is halfway along the cable - not very convenient for in-car use

Excellent

 

I quite like this transmitter, works great with my iPod Nano. Have also used it with my mate's iPod classic - no problems at all. All Griffin products are of great quality I reckon

works well, strong clear sound, lack of interference from other elctronic devices
