HP DreamScreen 100 10-inch

Editors' note: The HP DreamScreen is available in two models, one using a 10.2-inch screen, and the other using a 13.3-inch screen. For our review, we tested the model with the 10.2-inch screen. Since the two models are functionally identical, this...

The HP DreamScreen melds photos, music, videos, and more into an affordable Internet-connected display designed for the home.

Video support is mediocre; the Facebook app doesn't work; set-up is a chore; performance is sluggish; software is PC-only; lacks news feed viewer and support for photo services beyond HP's own Snapfish.

The HP DreamScreen is a decent a photo frame and Pandora Internet radio, but it's weighed down by several lukewarm features and an interface that demands patience.

HP DreamScreen 100

HP's new DreamScreen 100 is a good-looking and well-connected digital photo frame, but its held back by a sluggish interface.

Sexy design. Good image quality. Intuitive user interface. Simple network configuration.

Pricey. UI is very sluggish. Limited video playback support. Computer-to-frame networking software does not support Macs.

HP Dreamscreen 100

With its new DreamScreen, HP reaches out beyond the familiar digital photo frame concept to include applications normally associated with stand-alone tablets. This 10-inch, $250 model incorporates wireless support for popular applications such as...

Incredibly easy to use ; Wireless connectivity

Must be plugged in at all times ; Expensive

HP's radio feature is neat, but has a few quirks: Navigation is limited (you can search only by location or genre, not by name), so adding stations to your favorites list is a chore involving lots of drilling. The DreamScreen will play MP3, PCM, WMA,...

Review: HP DreamScreen 100

Digital photo frames are a new hit in the consumer electronics market, and now everybody and their dog seems to making them. So how does a company differentiate their product? You do what HP has done with the DreamScreen 100 and you make it much more...

So overall the DreamScreen is a step in the right direction. The feature set is good, but not quite good enough for the rather high retail price of $249. If you look around it is possible to find the DreamScreen 100 for slightly less. In fact, I found...

Review: HP DreamScreen 100 digital picture frame

Although the HP DreamScreen 100 offers more than your average digital photo frame, it isn't enough to justify the high price tag.

Incredibly easy to use; built-in wireless connectivity allows for access to Facebook, Snapfish, Pandora, and HP SmartRadio; video and audio support

Must be plugged in at all times; can't connect wirelessly to Mac

Sleek and minimalist in shiny black, the DreamScreen 100 is nevertheless better suited for sitting on a desktop than hanging on a wall. This is due both to its not inconsiderable weight and to the need to keep the unit plugged in at all times. So, even...

HP DreamScreen 100/130 review

HP is taking the digital photo frame to new heights with its HP DreamScreen line of smart displays that do way more than just let you browse pretty pictures. The DreamScreen is a beautiful, smart display that comes in 10in and 13in sizes. Both link...

HP's DreamScreen is stuck in tablet purgatory. It's not quite the tablet you want it to be and too expensive to justify as a replacement for the digital picture frame you never use.

HP DreamScreen 100

The HP DreamScreen 100 offers more than your average digital photo frame, but the features aren't enough to justify its high price.

HP claims that it plans to provide support for more applications, so hopefully we can look forward to seeing the integration of Flickr, Shutterfly and more. And it would be especially cool if future updates include some sort of browser to allow for RSS...
