Olympus M:robe MR-100

The stylish and good-sounding Olympus M:robe MR-100 is red hot, but it cools off in the features department. Read on to get the full story.

Eye-catching design with hot red backlighting and accents; speedy transfers; fairly intuitive interface; impressive sound.

Must use included software to transfer songs; syncing function on software is unintuitive and time consuming; sparse on features; uncomfortable earbuds.

The attention-grabbing M:robe MR-100 sounds good, but if you want features and flexibility, look elsewhere.

Olympus m:robe MR-100 Reviewed

The Olympus m:robe MR-100 is a nice 5GB digital audio player. It delivers good quality sound, has plenty of features, and is incredibly stylish. The player itself is great but the m:trip software does not match the quality of the device.

Sleek & Stylish ; 5GB hard drive ; Plays WMA (32 to 192 kpbs) and MP3 (16 to 320 kpbs) files ; Good sound ; Intuitive player interface

Must use m:trip software ; Does not charge while syncing ; m:trip software is buggy ; LCD hard to see in bright sunlight ; Not compatible with iTunes or Napster To Go

The Olympus m:robe MR-100 is a very stylish digital audio player. It plays WMA and MP3 tracks and sounds great. The volume is a bit on the quiet side though. The touch screen takes a little getting used to, but is very intuitive. It can even double as...

Olympus m:robe MR-100

From a purely visual perspective, the MR-100 is an absolute delight. While it may lack the colour screen of the current generation of iPod's, the lit up touch panel control in particular beats the iPod's wheel hands down.

Olympus - m:robe MR-100

We're not sure how scratch-free the front of the m:robe MR-100 will remain, and the wide area the user interface covers means that your thumb, which inevitably ends up doing a lot of work, can get a bit stretched. But the sound quality is great and the...
