Samsung YP-Q1 MP3 Player

This sleek and sexy new player from Samsung makes you look cooler than before; and without becoming an Apple fanboy!

Samsung YP-Q1

Stylish, intuitive menu, produces good sound, good screen

No drag-and-drop functionality, menu lags in certain folders, fingerprint magnet

The Samsung YP-Q1 (16GB) is an attractive and well-performing device that lacks the versatility needed to compete with the similarly priced iPod nano.

Samsung YP-Q1 review

A big, bright display, compatibility with the BBC iPlayer and strong sound make this Samsung a contender, but we hate the touch-sensitive controls

Bright screen ; impressive and flexible specification ; punchy, energetic sound

Easily fouled controls are infuriating. How did they make it into production?

A score-draw snatched from the jaws of victory, thanks to the exasperating interface

Samsung YP-Q1 review

Good-looking, great-sounding Nano contender

Sleek design ; FM radio ; BBC iPlayer compatibility

Buttons too responsive ; Plain music portal ; Earphones are cheap, not cheerful

It may never knock the domineering iPod from its PMP perch, but those who chose not to follow the cult of Apple will find the Samsung Q1 a pleasant and viable alternative.

Samsung YP-Q1

The latest MP3 player from Samsung looks great, comes with a lot of features, and can play audio, video, picture, and text files without any problems. But if you have issues with touch-sensitive keys, then this player may not be your cup of tea.

Audio upscaling function; Good audio output; Built-in FM Tuner; Subway Maps; Easy to use Emodio software

Overly-sensitive touch keys; Slow interface
