Samsung Samsung S3

The 4GB Samsung S3 Slim fills the void that Apple and Microsoft created in discontinuing the iPod Nano and Zune of the same capacity. This slick player isn't as feature-packed as the Nano or the Zune, but it's very affordable and offers excellent sound...

Excellent sound quality ; Interface is easy to navigate

Touch controls can be overly sensitive ; Hassle to transcode video

With its sharp design and high sound quality, the Samsung S3 is a great value flash player.

Samsung S3 Slim review: Samsung S3 Slim

Samsung S3 Slim

The Samsung S3 Slim MP3 player offers a sleek and stylish design and a handful of desirable features, such as OGG support, a folder navigation option, and a nine-band user EQ. It's also a good value and offers great sound quality.

Compared with other Samsung players, the S3 is anemic in the features department, and the touch-sensitive controls are not for everyone. Audio battery life is below average.

The Samsung S3 Slim MP3 player is a solid option for budget-minded users with an eye for design and an ear for audio.

Samsung YP-S3

The latest pretty PMP from Samsung offers flash, along with lots of storage, for $100.

Stylish design. Lots of storage for a low price. Excellent user interface. FM radio and recorder.

Small screen not ideal for video. Poor video support—conversion software needed. Touch-sensitive buttons can be unresponsive.

Samsung YP-S3JCB MP3 Player

As much as some of its competitors may wish otherwise, the first name that always comes to mind for most people when it comes to MP3 players is the Apple ...

Great value at just $80 for the 8GB ; Decent set of features, including FM and video ; Very attractive, slim body ; True user-defined nine-band EQ settings

Low-resolution display makes video less satisfying ; Lack of good podcast integration ; Touch sensitive controls can be unresponsive in the cold ; No Bluetooth, unlike other Samsung players

You get a fairly standard set of earbuds with foam covers, a USB sync cable (which also acts as the charging cable), an installation CD, and the usual documentation. There’s nothing too out of the ordinary here, though I would have liked to see a...

Samsung YP-S3

Slim MP3 player with touch-sensitive buttons

Slim, touch-sensitive controls, lots of features

Interface can be sluggish, missing voice recorder

Another impressive portable media player, the Samsung YP-S3 suffers from a sluggish interface but is otherwise a good unit that offers a bevy of features in a slim package.

Samsung S3 (4GB)

A competent player with decent audio quality and some cool customisation options, but the screen is too small and navigation can be slow-going.

Effective EQ presets. Customisable menus, fonts and Now Playing screen. Decent bass-enriched sound. Folder navigation and ability to delete songs from player.

Slow interface. SVI video conversion can be annoying. Touch-sensitive buttons prone to accidental presses. Screen could be bigger.

Great audio, but the interface is too slow and the touch buttons irk.
