SanDisk Sansa e260 review

A couple of years ago this would have sounded crazy, but SanDisk, which is probably best known for flash drives and memory cards, just put out one of the best MP3 players on the market. Yeah, I know, I'm just as surprised as you are, but after...

SanDisk Sansa e260R

The Sansa e260R dials you in to Rhapsody's all-you-can-eat music service.

Rhapsody integration Card slot for extra memory

Controls are uncomfortable to use, Disappointing audio quality

Offers slick Rhapsody online music store integration, but ease of use needs improvement, and sound quality is lackluster.

Sansa E260

The SanDisk Sansa e260 looks a lot like an Apple iPod Nano--from the front. It's roughly as tall and wide as the Nano, it has a big color screen, and its thumbwheel is surrounded by four navigation buttons. Priced at $229 (as of 4/13/06), the 4GB e260...

Has thumbwheel Large 1.8-inch screen

Menu navigation can be unintuitive

The e260's screen is big, and photos look great on it. Sample photos are variously oriented horizontally or vertically, which requires you to turn the player during the demonstration slide show. But all the photos I loaded displayed horizontally,...

SanDisk Sansa e260

Player Type: Flash MP3 Player, Radio: Yes, Recording, Voice: Yes, Recording, Line In: No, Capacity: 4000 MB, Screen...

Removable battery. Sturdy shell. Very good audio quality. Easy to use. Expandable storage. Extensive feature set. Strong FM tuner.

Playlisting features aren't great. Buttons are slightly difficult to press. No lossless support. Loading music in USB mode causes erratic behavior. Requires separate apps for loading music and visual media.

The e260 has an excellent combination of features, style, ease of use, and price, but the overall user experience still isn't quite as smooth as that of the iPod nano.

Sandisk Sansa E260

The Sansa e260 has several features we'd love to see in other media players, including a microSD card slot; unfortunately, it's also saddled with a killer design flaw.

The imperfection that nearly renders the e260 useless, however, is the size, location, and sensitivity of its Record button: It’s much too big, it’s way too sensitive, and it’s located right where you grasp the device. We unintentionally activated...

The next big thing

Introduction SanDisk quietly entered the digital audio scene last winter with their affordable "Digital Audio Player" line. Two more dirt cheap, feature-filled products later (the Sansa e100 and m200 series) and SanDisk sits in second place behind Apple i

With the Sansa e200 series SanDisk has created their most compelling MP3 player yet. It lives up to the hype in that it is easy to use, well-designed, and feature-filled, something few players on the market can accurately claim. It's not quite a...

SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 music player

The SanDisk Sansa e260 is a small, stylish MP3 music player that comes with a crisp color screen for viewing videos and photos. The device can play MP3 and WMA music and common digital video formats, as well as display photographs. The available models...

The SanDisk Sansa e260 is very good value for the money. You get a nice selection of features (music, photos, videos, voice recorder, and expandable memory) for less money than the iPod nano. The fact that flash memory MP3 players still come with a...

SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 player

Oh no, not another MP3 player you say? To which we reply, correct: this is not just another MP3 player. The very idea that SanDisk, makers of memory cards, would come up with such a device following the frankly laughable effort that was the Sansa c150...

Value, capacity, build quality, battery life, not an iPod

Fiddly navigation wheel, not an iPod

"More" pretty much sums up the Sansa e260: more capacity, more for your money, and even more battery life. Look beyond the Apple logo and the iPod branding, understand that there are only two letters separating cool from fool, and all of a sudden...
