Brother HL-2040

 

The Brother HL-2040 is a good value, with fast performance, excellent text quality, and a 250-sheet paper capacity that's appropriate for a personal printer.

Very inexpensive. Compact. Excellent text quality. Excellent performance for the price. Adequate paper handling, with a 250-sheet capacity and a manual feed.

Graphics and photo quality are both relatively low. Oddly for a laser printer, output has a tendency to curl.

Compact, cheap compared to other lasers, fast printouts, sharp text output

Graphics quality not the best, papers get slight curl after printing

The Brother HL-2040 is a great choice for budget printing, as long as you are aware of its drawbacks.

Best printer I have ever owned

 

This does exactly what it says: Prints black and white, and never runs out of toner. This is the best printer I have ever owned. I used it for all of undergrad and did not have to replace the toner at all

Amazing Printer

 

Watch out if it shows the yellow toner low light, it seems to keep the fuser unit warm. This can waste power, so turn it off if not using it for a while. AMAZING BUDGET PRINTER!

Prints fast, automatically recognized and added by OSX, XP and Vista for me. Prints labels well too. Toner lasted for 3 years. Refill kits only 9USD on e bay ; I bought one, loved it, gf got one, dad got one, mom too. Why don't more people buy these?...

Toner refill can be messy, make sure you wear the gloves, otherwise, just buy a new cartridge for cheap

Most bang for the buck

 

You have to buy your own USB cable, fyi.

30 after MIR for a Laser printer is an absolute steal, and if the drum last for over 12,000 as Platypi0007 review suggest, then I may never have to buy ink ever again since I just it for personal uses. Everyone is gonna need or want a personal laser...

Can't complain when the printer cost $30, and wouldn't either way, the printer works great and the print quality is what would you expect from a laser printer
