Good output quality overall ; 20-sheet ADF, unusual in an AIO at this price ; Supports borderless printing ; Strong cloud and mobile device support

Cost per page is high ; No memory device support ; Low input and output capacities ; Dated-looking control panel

Brother's budget-priced MFC-J491DW inkjet all-in-one is a strong pick for homes and small offices that need only occasional output but would benefit from a built-in document feeder.

Brother MFC-J491DW review: A lacklustre printer that looks better than it performs

Brother's MFC-J491DW isn't bad, but there are much better alternatives in this price range

Quick scanning ; Easy to use touchscreen ; Fold-away ADF

Slow to print ; Doesn't match competitors ; Drab printing quality

Overall, the MFC-J491DW doesn’t do much wrong, but it doesn’t excel anywhere either. At this price, it’s simply too lacklustre to compete - so you're better spending your money elsewhere.
