Canon Pixma MP490 printer review

 

The £79 price range of the Canon Pixma MP490 MFP means tradeoffs. The high ink costs are bearable if you print infrequently; otherwise, look for a model with lower-cost inks (and a higher purchase price), such as HP's OfficeJet 6500 Wireless.

This is a reasonably priced four ink (two cartridge) All In One unit. However it is really designed for light use simply because of the small size of the ink cartridges . Output quality is good the only drawback is the ink cost.

Looks good, easy to connect, convenient footprint.

These faults were found straight out of the box:- a) Black and white printing/copying produced in a full solid black printed sheet. Colour scanning/printing produced washed out colours and variable colour density. b) Quality control ticket inside...

Compact; easy to use. Have had a cannon before, which helps. Good online manual.

A problem with colour quality from the outset.The colour cartridge appeared to have dried out, despite the indicator implying it was full I had to change the colour cartridge after very little use. A repacement refill would be appreciated.
