Canon Pixma iP4000

Fast text and photo printing; decent print quality; inexpensive; PictBridge compatible; high paper-input capacity; dual paper trays.

Feathering in text files; photos could be smoother.

Fast print speeds and decent output make this inexpensive printer a great option for multitasking families.

Canon PIXMA iP4000

The Canon PIXMA iP4000 is a photo printer, but that doesn't stop it from printing text and graphics at high speed.

Fast performance for photos and business applications. Direct printing from cameras. Good or better output quality across the board. Duplex printing. Two input paper trays.

No memory-card slots.

Output quality is better overall than for most ink jets. The photo rating is nearly excellent, held back only by a slight tint in our monochrome test photo and in one color photo. Text and graphics are both a bit better than good. More than half of the...

Fast print speeds and a lot of features--including wireless capability--would make the IP4000R a good buy even if its printing costs weren't so low.

Speed, features, running costs

Nothing notable

Canon Pixma iP4000 review

Two black inks make this a superb three-colour printer

Separate ink tanks ; Built-in CD tray ; Dual paper sources ; Second black ink

Slightly yellow prints ; Lightfast issues

Fast budget printer that's a good all-rounder. Good results for three colours and comes with lots of features.

Canon PIXMA iP4000

Canon's iP4000 is one of several new PIXMA printers from Canon, styled to look like anonymous cubes of shiny black slate, edged with silver grouting. The company has dubbed PIXMA its 'designer' brand. Its appeal is that it prints photos and documents...

Looks better in the home than most printers

U turn tray sticks out when loaded with A4

This good value printer should be popular with home users. It handles two everyday, essential print jobs - photos and documents - as well as being designed to fit snugly onto a bookshelf. We don't think PIXMA will become the design icon that the...

Terrible

The previous printer to this one was also a Canon. That one I purchased in 1998 and it still works without a problem, I only purchased this one to save the hassle of buying a new cable for the existing printer to plug into my new computer. I chose...

Looks good

Lots of dislikes - soon after purchasing this pinter the print is on a slant (paper tray has always been loaded as per instructions but this didn't help) and the second page of every print always jams. It now doesn't print at all - paper jams before it...

Excellent

This printer is ideal for the use in the home or small buisness. The quality of the photos that it can print is excellent and it can do this a good speed. It is also in the cheaper end of the printer market, which is surprising due to the quality of...

Very quick printer with great images and text. One of the fastest printers I have used.

It is a bit big compared to other printers and can take up a lot of room on a small desk. Refills can be expensive, but easy to find.

there are no cons to the canon pixma ip4000, only maybe changing of the ink can be tedious and it is efficient but not as efficient as a laser printer. although it is still value for money.

Canon Pixma Ip4000

Once up and running, print speed is very good. 6 x 4 photos are very vibrant.

Takes a while to get ready after initial switch on.
