Priced at just $139 the Pixma iP3600 is a handsome and compact little unit in its piano black livery. It takes five ink cartridges made up of magenta, cyan, yellow, photo black and a double-sized plain black.

The Canon Pixma iP3600 may be basic, but it gets the basics right. It's fast and turns out beautiful prints that leave many of its rivals standing.

I find it surprising that it is 11 months since I have reviewed an ink jet printer, by that I mean a printer as opposed to an all in one or a multi function unit. Unlike most inkjets it has two proper trays so you have far more control from the computer.
