Dell's new 1230c Color Laser Printer is a study in extremes. It is extremely inexpensive, and extremely small. As color lasers go, however, it's also extremely disappointing.

Grainy graphics quality, expensive toner Flimsy construction

Dell's 1230c puts a color laser within reach of most budgets. But for the same amount of money, you could buy an awfully nice inkjet printer that would probably please you more (and be no more expensive to supply)

There aren't a lot of color lasers that can claim the title of personal printer—small enough to share a desk with and cheap enough to justify buying for just one person's use—but the Dell 1230c Color Laser Printer ($229 direct) qualifies. Its text...

Small. Reasonably high-quality output. Vibrant color for graphics. Near-photo-quality photos

Slow and with low text quality for a laser (although better than most inkjets on both counts). High cost per page

Very good printer, value for money is great, it is not very quick in warming up, but once it is going it is quite fast in black and white, by the way this is exactly the same printer as the SAMSUNG CLP310, or it is Samsung branded by DELL

Big Disappointment

 

I purchased this printer for my law firm when I was just starting out a year ago. Since that time, I have had to have Dell replace it twice because it just stopped working. I am finally fed up and have upgraded, hoping that this problem will be solved...

I went through two printers in one week!

 

This printer is good for VERY basic printing. Do not try to print double sided on glossy paper, it jams every time. I got a replacement printer and it did the exact same thing. I upgraded to a 2130cn, I hope this one is up to the task.

I have a Dell color laser and purchased this one as a gift for my father. He is very happy with it, appreciating the easy set up and the wonderful quality of the printed products. Excellent basic color laser for home use.

I chose this product because I have a Dell laptop and I do a LOT of printing so thought I would save money on ink. The quality of the print is fine and overall the printer performs well. BUT the price of the ink is outrageous. I have owned this printer...

Best Value for the money - spectacular prints

 

I was shocked at the quality of my first color prints, wish i'd left ink jet behind years ago. For the price of 3 cheap ink jets this is a great value.
