Dell 1700n meets basic needs, budget of small workgroups

 

A starter network printer for small offices, the Dell 1700n produces decent but not dazzling quality at a low cost, although it shuns Mac users.

Low price; network ready; sleek; attractive; easy to install.

Output is not spectacular; no Macintosh compatibility; requires upgrades for networks larger than a handful of people.

Small offices pursuing a low-cost, grayscale workgroup laser printer can start with the Dell 1700n.

The Dell Laser Printer 1700n offers high-quality output and a network connection at a notably low price.

Text quality just short of excellent. Better quality graphics than most monochrome lasers. Network connection.

Relatively slow performance for the engine speed.

Our office owns a lot of printers. One of the networked printers is a Dell 1700N Laser Printer, which we have used for four years. Before you buy one of these, there are definitely some things to consider … like whether you enjoy listening ...
