Dell Personal ALL-IN-ONE Printer A940

WHAT'S HOT: The Dell A940 blazed through our scanning speed tests, completing the 1200-dpi color scan in 40 seconds. (The look-alike Lexmark X5150 posted virtually identical scan times.)The A940 printed our test color photo with satisfyingly rich tones...

When you're printing, a small window appears at the bottom right-hand corner of the computer screen to indicate how much ink your cartridges have left. If you click the order link in this window, you'll jump to Dell's Web site

Dell Personal All-in-One Printer A940

Initial hardware setup is complicated by the placement of the lever for unlocking the scanner lid. Hidden inside the chassis, the lever—and the icon showing the unlocked position—is impossible to see unless you open the unit and tip it backwards....

Dell A940

At $129 direct, the Dell A940 is the second-least-expensive MFP in this roundup. You'll give up memory card slots, an ADF, and built-in fax capability, but what the A940 does, it does well. The unit includes well-thought-out touches that extend its...

Works for simple home printing

We have had this printer for almost five years now. We bought it for its ability to fax, print, and copy. It is a good machine, but it does have a few drawbacks. Let me start there since for general use of its functions it does everything fairly well. ...

Low cost, easy to use and setup, good for general use

The Dell A940 is a cheap Lexmark printer with Dell's name on it.

Dell printers in general are either produced by Lexmark in Kentucky or in China / Korea. They are all about being cheap and low cost. I do own the A940 because it was given to me. I would not have bought it knowing its problems. The problems I have had...

The only positive I can find for any of the Dell printers is it's cheap

Poor paper feed / jams in humid conditions. Ink streaks badly with 1/4 cartridge left

Bloatware and Mail-Order Inks

One of our departments has a Dell A940 AIO printer. I can only guess that AIO means "all-in-one", as this is a color scanner, printer, and copier. The USB is the only method of connection and it has no faxing capability. 1 The Dell A940 AIO is the ...

Inexpensive initial investment, fast, good printouts for office use

Ugly photos, mail-order inks, buggy bloatware drivers (can't share very well)

DO NOT BUY ANY DELL PRINTER

Not to sound like I hate this printer, it's that I hate the ink cartridges. The Dell A940 All in One is an excellent printer and scanner. The print speed and quality is very good which makes sense considering that it is a Lexmark printer with the Dell ...

Great print quality, great scanner results, driver software tells you when you need new ink

Can only buy ink from Dell. Universal refills are not compatible. Ink dries out
