HP Color LaserJet 1600

The HP Color LaserJet 1600 printer is the same printer as the HP CLJ 2600n with fewer features. Unlike the 2600n, the 1600 is not network ready and can be connected only via USB. Finally, the CLJ 1600 printer is compatible only with Windows-based PCs;...

HP Color LaserJet 1600 review

HP Color LaserJet 2600n If you've decided you can't afford a color laser printer, reconsider: the HP Color LaserJet 2600n costs only $399 with built-in Ethernet networkability. This model is simple to use, and the quality of most of its print samples...

Inexpensive; easy to use; great black-text quality.

Prints text slowly; expensive toner; mediocre color-graphics quality; USB cable not included.

This HP is affordable if you want a simple color laser printer with wired networking, but it's sluggish.

HP Color LaserJet 1600

The 1600 is also, thankfully, relatively light (for a color laser), at 40.5 pounds, and relatively small, at 14.6 by 16.1 by 17.8 inches (HWD). The overall measurements make it sound bulkier than it actually is because it's smaller at the top than at...

Low price. Reasonable speed. Low price. Reasonably high quality across the board. Low price

Slight misregistration in graphics, with thin slices of white showing between blocks of color

The HP Color LaserJet 1600 lowers the entry-level price for color laser printing while still offering reasonable speed and quality.

HardwareCentral - HP Color LaserJet 1600 Review.

But a nip here and a tuck there add up to a different printer. Compared to the 2600N, the Color LaserJet 1600 lacks an Ethernet connector, defining it as a USB 2.0 desktop device for a single user instead of small-office sharing. It supports Windows 98...

At 40 pounds, the HP is lighter than many color lasers; it's a bit awkward but doable for one person, and easy for two, to wrestle the printer out of its packaging. Flip down its front panel, and you'll see the black, yellow, cyan, and magenta...

Microsoft Desktops 2.0

It doesn't matter how large a monitor you use, how high you set your screen resolution - the Windows desktop is never big enough. And so you're always resizing windows, minimising, maximising, trying to pick out the app you need in a cluttered taskbar.

HP LaserJet 1600

The price of colour-laser technology has been steadily falling for several years. Now, finally, HP has brought out a sub-£200 colour laser. Such a price would have seemed unthinkable just two years ago but, with a raft of competent models currently...

In terms of physical build and operation, the LaserJet 1600 is excellent. With consumables costing as much as the printer itself, running expenses are a concern and text output is quite slow. However, those wanting a cheap laser for colour graphics...

Not Mac Compatible

If you have a Mac, get the 2600. I'm really surprised and downright appalled that HP chose not to make this printer Mac compatible.

Don't really know because it didn't work on my computer, but it was easy to put together

After putting it all together and plugging into my Mac, I learned that it was indeed NOT Mac compatible. It was also a lot bigger than I expected

Splended light to medium duty color laser printer

I have no problems recommending this printer. The price is right while the quality is still up to HP standards. I've printed many computer manuals with it, in PDF form, and it did not stall or waiting for the memory or imaging units to keep up. It's...

Highly affordable Color LaserJet printer with excellent printing quality. Toner is in powered form and lasts for a long time, will never dry out like ink cartridges. Speed is acceptable, but not lightning quick. Long life on toner cartridges - even...

It's a bit large. Especially if you're used to inkjet sized printers where it's about 4X larger. Photo printing is just "good" - but I wouldn't recommend using your computer printer for photo's anyway. Instead take your digital camera to a store to use...
