HP Deskjet 5550 review: HP Deskjet 5550

HP Deskjet 5550

Excellent graphics output; affordable price; extremely easy setup.

Unexciting photo print quality; slow print speeds.

This easy, low-cost, printer will appeal to families and students. If you prefer a speedy model, however, keep searching.

Personal: HP Deskjet 5550

For personal ink jets, it came down to a contest of HP models. The company's products aced our tests. Which do you go with, then? If money were no object, the HP Color Inkjet Printer cp1700 would be the winner, with the best print quality, a close...

HP Deskjet 5550 Inkjet Printer

WHAT'S HOT: The Deskjet 5550 turned in top-notch print quality for gray-scale images, with smooth textures and excellent detail. On glossy photo paper, high-resolution color prints showed natural skin tones and more detail than our original image did....

HP throws in some extras you wouldn't expect to find in a $150printer. An automatic alignment feature helps you avoid printing out a page ofalignment calibrations, then making adjustments on-screen manually and printingout another page to make sure...

HP Deskjet 5550 Inkjet Printer (HP-C6487CA2L)

The Deskjet 5550 fits well in the family room or the home office, printing attractive graphics and quotidian text at somewhat pokey speeds.

This machine is not needed by the average human, desired maybe, but by far not needed. There are many devices out today that will do most of the same functions for far less money. I will be honest, I am far from impressed. I expected this thing to do...

HP DeskJet 5550 Review

Good quality and speed for everyday jobs; good performance (even without optional six-color cartridge) as a photo printer, Friendly software; optional double-sided printing

Short-lived ink cartridges; better for photos and reports than plain text, Bulky; Windows 2000 driver glitch

Our main complaint about the DeskJet is that, though the printer is big, its ink cartridges are tiny: HP estimates the 19ml black cartridge will last for just 450 pages (with minimal 5-percent coverage) before you'll need a $20 replacement. The...

HP Deskjet 5550

HP seems to have revamped its highly successful line of printers, not only in the quality department but also the aesthetics. Their new range of printers looks like they were designed by George Lucas...no kidding.
