This easy-to-use printer quickly outputs documents and photos, but has few extras.

The HP Deskjet 5940 is well equipped for general-purpose printing and capable of fast performance and high quality, though not necessarily at the same time.

HP Deskjet 5940 Photo Printer

The HP Deskjet 5940 Photo Printer is a solid choice for good-quality text, graphics, or photos.

Reasonably good performance for text and graphics. Output quality ranges from the high end of good to very good. Prints directly from cameras.

Photo speed is sluggish. Thin lines in graphics don't always print.

Good quality text output

Dissapointing glossy photo prints ; Lacks media card slots

Printed very attractive color graphics on plain paper, but glossy photos suffered from obvious banding.

HP Deskjet 5940

The HP Deskjet 6540 made waves in our colour inkjets chart for over a year. Those still lamenting its demise will be glad to see that the firm's 5940 model offers a lot of the same, at an even juicier price.

HP Deskjet 5940

A rapid printer that also produces rather nice photographs perhaps this could be the inkjet printer that is a good all rounder.

It is 43x32x14cm with paper inserted, the 14cm is the measurement at the rear and this becomes 11cm at the centre and only 5cm at the front. Silver/Grey in colour with black for the base paper tray. There are three buttons and two LED's on the left...
