It's affordable but not reliable!!!

I've grown frustrated with my HP 648C ink-jet printer. I bought over this past summer (2001) at a local Staples for only $59 ($29 after a 30 dollar mail-in rebate.) The affordability and quietness of the HP 648C are pretty much the lone bright spots of...

Inexpensive and quiet

Slow and unreliable

And With Its Arrival Came The Return of My Sanity

Prints very clean copy!

Slow and loud - well, louder than my previous printer.

A Fifty Minute Print Job.

I bought this printer as an add-on for the entire computer package. Because it was an add-on, it worked out to be about $45 USD. I thought I was getting the best new computer package I could possibly buy, but I think I was wrong... Here's why.

The draft quality mode is pretty fast, but the ink bleeds everywhere...

It takes a LONG time to print anything in the best quality mode.

Not for heavy use

Came free with my iMac, so the price was right!

Pretty Good Machine

The HP Deskjet 648c is a pretty good printer. It prints very good quality color pictures when put on it highest quality setting. If you get glossy photo paper and print on that, it comes out like film developed at a professional studio. That's how...

Great quality color and black and white printing for a really good price

Prints pretty slowly when printing in high quality

I got what I paid for.

I have owned a Deskjet printer since HP sold them. My first and only was a DeskJet 500. The 500 is quite a workhorse and still works perfectly, but it eats ink cartridges if not used daily. So I tired of wasting these cartridges and decided to move up...

Cheap! Color. Same look and feel as other HP DeskJets

Poor image quality? slow.

Hewlett Packard 648c color printer

I use two of these printers at work everyday for printing reports for virus scans and system configurations of computers brought in for service or upgrades. These two printers are used heavily and hold up fairly well for the use we give them. They...

A small affordable color printer that is easy to set up and use.

A slow printer with low resolution and expensive ink cartridges.

This market was not meant for HP...

I'm still puzzled as to why H.P. decided they needed to take an interest in the low-end market of printers, but for some reason they have with the last couple of printers (610C Series and now this one).

USB Support, cheap price up front...

Expensive cartridges, low quality, slow.

Affordable, great quality printer!

I bought the HP Deskjet 648C after my Canon BJC-4400 crapped out after only a year (avoid Canon printers like the plague! They SUCK). I was looking for a cheap inkjet printer that would do good quality black text and decent colour. I paid $149 Canadian...

Great quality, Good drivers, looks kinda cool, USB *or* parallel connection, Mac compatibility, Bigass ink cartridges last a long time, HP reliability, very very good deal.

A bit noisy, it's kinda big compared to some printers
