HP Deskjet 6840

We liked the speed and the wireless capabilities of this inkjet, but its print quality left us cold.

Built-in Wi-Fi networking, Produces good-looking photos

Struggled to produce high-quality text

If you're already committed to Wi-Fi, the HP Deskjet 6840 makes it easy to add a printer that multiple users can share. You get good-looking photos, but plain paper documents disappoint.

Ready for a wired or Wi-Fi network, the HP Deskjet 6840 handles text and photos well for a small business or a home.

Consistently good print quality; built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet capability; additional duplexer and paper tray available.

Clumsily designed output tray; must-have business extras hike up the price.

The low-key design of the Deskjet 6840 hides a solid performer that will briskly churn out text, graphics, and photos for up to five networked PCs.

HP Deskjet 6840 Color Inkjet Printer

With both Ethernet and 802.11g built in, the HP Deskjet 6840 is fully network ready.

Exceptionally fast for an ink jet. Output quality ranges from good to very good. Built-in Ethernet and 802.11g networking. Direct printing from cameras.

For best quality, you need to change cartridges to match the output, swapping between black, photo color, and photo gray inks.
