HP Deskjet 6980 Printer

In a time when inkjet printers tend to bristle with card slots, LCDs, and other fancy features, HP's Deskjet 6980 sticks to the basics. Its peppy overall speed and very respectable print quality suit it for a business-minded small or home office.

Fast print speeds ; Good print quality and documentation

Control panel is hard to use ; Output tray is flimsy

The Deskjet 6980 makes no effort to impress or overwhelm; it simply does its job well and fairly easily. It will serve your mainstream printing needs ably and can also print nice graphics and photos

HP Deskjet 6980 Review

Where the Deskjet 6980 really shines is in its output quality. Serif and sans-serif fonts were readable even at tiny sizes (the inkjet's 4-point text was a close match for the laser). Our Acrobat document showed sharp text and vivid colors, and our...

HP Deskjet 6980 and HP Deskjet 6940

With inkjet manufacturers jumping aboard the digital-camera bandwagon, there's a dearth of good all-round, office-friendly inkjets. HP has filled the gap with its Deskjet 6980 and 6940.

With these prices, neither printer is an impulse buy. However, they're excellent for home and office use - particularly if you want them for text work and other Office applications. For the typical user, the 6940 is the safest bet. However, if you use...

HP - DeskJet 6980

The first thing that strikes you about the DeskJet 6980 is how different in appearance it is from a conventional printer. It's a sort of metallic charcoal grey colour, unlike the usual white or battleship grey, ...

At a very affordable price and with an attractive wireless connection feature, not to mention duplex printing, this is a stylish printer with high output and high quality photo reproduction.

Love the wireless

I had the printer working wirelessly within 20 minutes. I was surprised how easy it was. The range on the wireless is very good. The printer is approximately 60-70 feet from the router. I've had to turn the printer off twice to get it to reestablish a...

Fits the Bill Nicely

Was looking mainly at Canon Pixma printers when I decided to go with this HP, mainly because of the combination of the lowish price and built-in wireless capability.

I print mostly text, spreadsheets, web pages, and the like; not many photos. I wanted a printer that could do wireless to one computer (Vista 32-bit laptop) and USB cable to another (Windows XP desktop). I wasn't sure this printer could do both at the...

Wireless set-up was a little harder than I anticipated, but not terrible. The Print Report button on the front of the printer and the built-in web page were big helps. I use a Linksys WRT54G wireless router and WPA/TKIP security. Would have been nice...

Good network printer for home

Basic" driver provided on HP's web site is useless for wireless printing. Full download is around 250MB and is packed with bloatware. Installer crashes upon requesting updates (skip this step if you ever want it to work). Again, just uninstall...

Great print quality and speed, looks nice. Features Wireless 802.11b/g and wired Ethernet. Setup is easy enough (read the user guide and it becomes even easier!)

HP bloatware. Install 250MB of software to print. Uninstall the bulk and just leave the printer software. HP updates and wizards, oh my! They pop up at the worst times, so make sure to DELETE THEM immediately after your install. The software update...

Very Impressed

Configurable via a web interface or the included software. Surprisingly, the drivers work very well and do not come with too much bloat-ware. The wireless card has descent range and is fairly responsive. Print quality is right at photo-level....

Installation of drivers could be a little quicker
