Slow print speeds

The media card slots and the extensive image software make the 2840 attractive for offices that print lots of photos, but its pokiness and mediocre image quality will incline many prospective buyers to steer clear.

After only six months of use, I've now replaced this printer with a Brother HL-4040CN color laser. The Brother is easily 5 to 10 times faster than this HP. The same set of newsletters takes less than 30 minutes on the Brother. I'm not kidding. The...

Good quality printouts if you have the time to wait for them. It also makes a great paperweight if you have room for it on your desk. If anyone ever walks into your office with a gun, you could take cover behind this printer and be completely safe

Useless printer/fax/scan

I've updated the firmware to the latest 20070524, and still have the problems.

Are there any? Printing works, that's about it. I'm afraid to even try any large complex printouts as nothing else works properly (fax, scan, copy)

Faxing only works once after power-up. After that, faxing will either cause the printer to reboot, or it will hang in an endless "Storing Fax" stage ; NO Mac OSX Leopard support for fax/scan!!! Only printing works

Buyer beware -high maintenance

GET A WARRENTEE!!!! If your really going to get this then a 2-3yr warrentee is a must or you just throwing away cash. to scan across network you have to have a machine running with the full software suite setup on it and tell that machine where it can...

it CAN scan across the network (another review says it can't), stores faxes until it can print them up, can see the status of the device remotely via html

have to constantly do little fixes to it- if you make a legal copy and don't specify paper type then it will jam; if any cartridges are "out of ink" then you can't print/scan/fax/copy-it becomes completely useless until you get a new cartridge. If the...
