HP Photosmart 8250 Printer

The HP Photosmart 8250 Printer puts the emphasis on photos, but can actually do it all as a single, all-purpose printer.

High-quality output. Good performance. Separate 4- by 6-inch tray makes it easy to switch between printing letter-size documents and 4- by 6-inch photos.

Text quality, while good, is low for a photo ink jet. Photos are water- and smudge- ; resistant ; , not waterproof or smudgeproof.

Service and support

HP Photosmart 8750 Professional

Easy to use; media card slots; built-in networking.

Uses tricolor cartridges instead of individual ink tanks; prints are not water resistant; slow; big, even for a medium-format model.

This is a decent printer for the photo enthusiast or scrapbooker who wants the amenities of a consumer printer in the size of a medium-format model.

HP Photosmart 8150 Photo Printer

The HP Photosmart 8150 can fix problems in your photos and then print them without a computer.

Output quality is at the high end of the scale for ink jets. LCD for previewing photos. Kiosk-style direct-print features with cropping, sharpening, and more.

Graphics show banding in default mode. Plain paper pages with nearly full coverage tend to curl slightly.

HP Photosmart 8750 Professional Photo Printer

The HP Photosmart 8750 Professional Photo Printer ($499.99 direct) is one of the rare ink jet printers designed primarily for photos at sizes up to 13 by 19 inches. And although you can use it as an all-purpose printer, it's best as a second printer...

High-quality photos. Maximum 13- by 19-inch paper size. Prints directly from memory cards and PictBridge cameras

Relatively slow. Text and graphics quality on plain paper varies significantly depending on which ink cartridge is loaded

The HP Photosmart 8750 Professional Photo Printer is designed to produce high-quality photos in sizes up to 13 by 19 inches. It succeeds in that mission. It can also function as an all-purpose printer, but isn't really meant to be used that way.

HP's Photosmart 8750; 13x19- Nine-Ink Printer

The range of colors and tonal values from this printer are very impressive, particularly with the addition of the blue ink cartridge and its beneficial effect on sky color and richness.

HP Photosmart 8750

The HP Photosmart 8750 is a good, large format desktop photo printer and a good choice for the advanced hobbyist looking to make larger prints at home. But slow print times, long drying times, and lack of individual ink tanks will have professional...

Good print quality ; can print directly from many types of camera memory cards ; built-in Ethernet

Confusing multi-color ink-cartridge options ; slow print speeds ; no preview LCD

Using HP's Vivera inks, the 8750's prints should last as long as 100 years under glass and 200 years in a photo album. Unlike many inkjets, and even some recently announced HP printers, the Photosmart 8750 doesn't use individual ink tanks. It can...
