Lexmark P4350

Lexmark's P4350 offers a good combination of features for the price, but speeds and quality are mixed.

The economically priced Lexmark P4350 lacks speed and sophistication, but it's easy to use and produces nice photo prints.

Lexmark P4350 Printer

The Lexmark P4350 is a competitively priced bargain model for everyday home use when top quality and performance aren't a priority.

Economically priced ; Direct print (PictBridge) port

Limited paper handling ; Slow color graphics output

The quality of both scans and copies was lackluster, with a 100-dots-per-inch scan of our 4-by-5 composite proving particularly problematic. The P4350's scan speed was about strong, and the unit took only 16 seconds on average (just a few seconds less...

Lexmark X3350

The Lexmark X3350 All-In-One can print, scan, and copy, as well as fax by way of a computer's fax modem. It also offers surprising good print speed for the price.

Fast performance for the price. PictBridge connector for printing directly from cameras. Can print with either four inks or six (for improved photos).

Text quality is relatively low. Graphics and photo quality are only midrange for ink jets. No memory card slots. No automatic document feeder. No fax modem.

The Lexmark P4350 All-In-One can print high-quality photos from a computer or directly from a PictBridge camera or memory card—and can scan, copy, and fax using your computer's fax modem.

Prints, scans, and copies. LCD for previewing images on memory cards. Photo quality at the high end of very good. Faxes using PC fax modem.

No automatic document feeder. No built-in fax modem.

Lexmark X7170 All-In-One

The Lexmark X7170 All-In-One offers all the right features.

Reasonable performance for business applications. Fifty-page ADF. Standalone faxing and color copying. Includes utility to fax from any program. Very good photo quality.

Output quality for text and graphics is relatively low. Photo print speed with photo inks is on the slow side.

Spiffy design; easy-to-use software package; great color-photo printing.

Slow print speed; poor text and scan quality; ink swapping; uneven output quality.

The Lexmark X7170 fits a home or a small office that values good-looking photos more than speed, sharp text prints, or great scans.

Review: Lexmark P4350 All-In-One

The Lexmark P4350 is a decent solution for those who want the ease of use of a photo printer but still need an all-in-one solution for their home or small office printing, scanning and copying needs. This printer isn't designed for use with Photoshop...

And just think of the things you'll get done while your family is printing pictures themselves instead of bugging you to do it.

A user-friendly printer/copier/scanner with high-quality output and plenty of options for importing, copying, or resizing photo images

Text printing painfully slow without optional black ink cartridge; no automatic document feeder; only 0.8-inch smaller LCD differentiates it from last year's P2650 model
