Lexmark P450

For anyone who doesn't want to mix photography and computing, the Lexmark P450 ($199.99 direct) provides an easy way to print and store digital photos. The P450 doesn't even offer an option to connect to a computer. Instead, it lets you print directly...

Can save to and print from internal CD-R drive. Also prints from PictBridge cameras, memory cards, and USB keys. LCD for previewing photos before printing

Does not print from computers. Photos are tacky immediately after printing. Even after drying, they are easily hurt by water

The Lexmark P450 isn't the only dedicated 4-by-6 photo printer that doesn't connect to a computer. But it's the first to offer a built in CD-R drive that lets you save files from a memory card to a CD-R disc, as well as print from a camera, memory...

A Lexmark Printer That Misses The Mark

The P450 has some great features -- and you'll have plenty of time to explore them while waiting for your prints.

Digital photography has come a long way. Nowadays more digital cameras are sold than film cameras, and digital pictures dash across the Internet in seconds, making it easy to send your parents a steady stream of their grandkids' derring-do.But getting...

Lexmark P450

Lexmark's P450 is the first stand-alone Photo Printer we've seen with an in-built CD burner, as well as providing a plethora of connectivity options f...

No PC connection required, multiple media sources, easy interface

Numerous adapters needed, Slow printing speed, Slow CD burning

The Lexmark P450 offers home users the convenience of printing from a wide variety of media sources and doesn't require a PC to use. It is let down by slow printing, slow burning and the cost of additional adapters.

Lexmark P450

The CD burning capability aside, Lexmark's P450 is just another home photo printer with average printing features and performance.

Cute form factor ; Simple control panel ; 2.4-inch colour LCD ; Built-in memory card slots

Cannot connect to PC ; No thumbnail previews of pictures ; No battery pack ; Slow start-up ; Sluggish print time ; Takes a long time to copy pictures onto the CD

Our draft prints exhibited severe banding issues which made it good for only preview purposes. Do note that while printing borderless pictures, the printer does crop the edges of your image. Don't be surprised that if your head is exactly along the top...

Lexmark P450

Lexmark has come to the compact photo printer party with an innovative twist. While the company, like HP and Epson, is sticking with its own inkjet printing system rather than opting for thermal dye, it has built a notebook CD-R drive into the P450 so...

The P450 is a great starter model that, with better print quality and speed, would have gained a Gold award. Unfortunately, decent print quality on a compact photo printer is a must-have.

Lexmark - P450

We've had photo printers, photo printers that don't need a PC, and now, thanks to Lexmark, we have a photo printer which not only doesn't need a PC, it also has a built-in CD burner. The ...

Despite its shortcomings in terms of print speed and burn times to CD, the P450 is a versatile standalone printer and hopefully, if Lexmark keeps faith with the concept, print quality, print speed and burn speed should improve in future models.

Lexmark P450

Digital photographers can skip the PC altogether with this device for printing and archiving their photos

This is a rather expensive way of buying a printer with limited flexibility - it's not like you can also connect it to your PC and print the occasional letter.
