HP LaserJet P2015d

On the whole, the HP P2015dn is a good mono laser printer for the home, small office, or dorm room: it's compact and fast and (usually) produces decent text and graphics. A reproducible print error, however, gives us pause. The Lexmark E350d series is...

Compact; lightning fast prints; overall good text quality; multipurpose input tray is convenient; low per-page costs; 24-7 tech support.

Encountered a major, reproducible text error; graphics quality needs improvement; expensive relative to some of the competition.

The HP P2015dn has the right features to make it a good fit for a small office or home office, but the competition offers a better printer for less money.

Maybe 64-bit

Usual HP quality. Paper loading and energy efficiency. 32-bit Vista works fine on newer 45 series motherboard

Usual software learning curve for HP. Not listed as 64-bit compatible for Vista by MS. Probably dependent on motherboard/BIOS. Manual feed much less convenient than an old HP 6L printer but compensated by duplex convenience

NOT Certified for Vista

On the other hand, my father's workplace uses this same printer with Windows XP machines and it works fine, so my warning need only be heeded by those who intend to use this printer with Vista.

Cube shape takes up fairly little space on a desk, even compared to non-laser printers

Clearly, the requirements for Vista Certification are dismally low because this printer barely works with Vista. Using the Vista-compliant PCL6 drivers from the HP website, the printer exhibits a 5-10 second period of inactivity between each printed...

HP laserjet with Duplexer

Excellent printer for the price, duplexer works great! Prints fast with fast startup

Larger then some new lasers, but holds paper in internal tray unlike many of the inexpensive models that are front loaders with no internal paper tray

Excellent Printer

This is a great printer. Others have complained about the software but I don't understand how it interferes with anything. I had a difficult time making the duplex mode work, but ultimately I figured it out. I accidentally enabled the "manual feed" and...

Excellent print quality ; Duplex performance

None that I can think of

Great printer

If you're using Vista, don't insert the disc that comes with the printer; and close any Vista window that opens when you connect the printer to your system. Then use Add Printer to install the driver from the HP site. Also, all the orange plastic is...

Fast. Excellent print quality--no problem with light pages at the beginning (but I did shake the toner well). Consistent feed--no jams. Duplex works perfectly and not much slower than one-sided. Sized to fit a home office workspace. Works fine on Vista...

Does not come with instruction or driver for Vista users, nor does Vista contain the driver. You must go to the HP site and download the Vista driver and instructions; HP site does have Vista installation instructions, but you have to really look for...

HP 2015D Printer

Deposited a 5240 competitor's printer in hazmat. This printer does evrything very well. Doesn't destroy envelopes. If you load all the software on the CD you will slow down your PC. Only load SW necessary to opertate the printer. If it would only make...

Does a great job with everything. Very Fast. Less than 10 seconds from a cold start to first page out. Double sided printing saves papar and time. Highly recommnend this printer

Only cost of consumables

lame warrranty service

After a number of months of fine performance, it suddenly stopped working, with the "paper jam" light illuminated; tech support quickly helped me confirm that there was no actual paper jam and that I was covered under warranty.

Worked quite well after the initial period of too-light printing (which requires one to waste about 10% of the toner cartridge capacity) and before it just stopped working (the paper jam light was on, but there was no paper jam)

As mentioned in my post-purchase review, too-light printing until a couple hundred sheets had been printed. Lame warranty service described below
