Samsung CLP-315W review: Samsung CLP-315W

Samsung CLP-315W

Small footprint; lightweight; sleek design; individual toner cartridges.

Poor quality prints; slow output; lacks dedicated cancel button; no manual feed tray; higher cost per page than average; low duty cycle.

The Samsung CLP-315W is a fancy looking wireless laser printer with a clean design and small footprint, but the output quality is unacceptable and the blisteringly slow speeds will have you searching for other options

Samsung CLP-315W Network Colour Laser Printer

If you're shopping for a laser printer you can usually expect to pay more than you would for an inkjet printer, but it will pay itself back over time with much lower printing costs. Start shopping around for a colour laser printer and you will suddenly...

Great system compatibility (Windows, Mac and Linux drivers included right out of the box) ; Compact size and great looks ; Networking capabilities make it a great choice for the home network, either wirelessly or wired ; Fairly inexpensive to buy...

Slow print speeds ; Quality of colour images was lower when compared to past colour laser printers from Samsung

The CLP-315W is an excellent colour laser printer alternative for those without a large budget. It offers a great solution to get acceptable quality colour prints from a laser unit while maintaining a low operating cost compared to inkjet models. The...

Small footprint ; Lightweight ; Sleek design ; Individual toner cartridges

Poor quality prints ; Slow output ; Lacks dedicated cancel button ; No manual feed tray ; Higher cost per page than average ; Low duty cycle

Unfortunately, the print quality hardly makes up for the slow print speeds. We experienced inconsistent results between black and white and colour prints. As expected from any laser printer, black and white text appears well formed with sharp detail...

Samsung CLP-315w review

Samsung's USB-only CLP-315 is one of our all-time favourite colour laser printers, but it's about to go off the market. However, the CLP-315w is set to be around for a while longer. It's a particularly compact device, but the downside of this is its...

Beautiful colour and wealth of networking features make this compact colour laser an idea choice for a home office with modest printing requirements.

Terrific light-use home printer, wireless works perfect

Don't be fooled by all the reviews that give this printer bad reviews for things like time it takes to print or bulkiness. It's a laser printer that is inexpensive, toner that lasts forever if treated properly, wireless connectivity means freedom to...

Wireless allows us to place it in the middle of our house and forget about it (we honestly use it maybe 5-6 times a month total). Toner lasts forever, quality always perfect. We use draft quality to save toner, high for pictures, which all look great

It's a bit bulky. There are complaints about time to warm up, but since we either print from downstairs or upstairs, by the time we walk to the printer, it's not an issue. It's also a bit noisy, but again, low use = no problem.

Good Printer Overall

Samsung released a firmware fix just prior to my purchasing the printer that invalidates remanufactured or recycled cartridges like the ones sold by Rosewill here on Newegg. I've contacted Newegg about the cartridges from Rosewill not being compatible...

Kicks out great detail on images, and no blurry images at all

Burns through toner a bit on the fast side

Work Around Fixes

1. Print out the stat sheet and enter the IP address in your browser, ie http://192.168.1.5 then change IP to STATIC. This solves the "lost printer" syndrome. 2. While there, change the colors to "+2" from "0". This adds toner to the print and improves...

Cheap, small foot print, toner carts cost is reasonable, much cheaper than other major brands. Easy self install to wireless. Fairly quick print

Have to work around silly dynamic IP address problems and weak color output. Pulls down the lights when it kicks in to print. Smells at first, but that goes away. Quiet
